Excellent storytelling, as always. In this book and the previous one, however, a number of minor but noticeable deficiencies in editing exist. Nothing big, just enough to niggle at the smooth flow of events. Highly enjoyable overall.
Kind of sad to have finished it. But while the "main story" is wrapped up, there is still room in the Carreraverse for storytelling. I can't mention loose ends without spoilers, so.... Maybe there's another anthology soon? I can hope. :)
i have read all of the carrera series. humans have devoted themselves to perfecting war. all knowledge old or new is eventually directed to this end. once knowledge reaches a critical level the civilization embodied by it will self destruct. as long as good and evil balance each other life goes on. when either takes full control itis game over.
This entry brings to the end the UEPF's occupation of the high orbitals over Teranova. Written in Kratman's unique style we get plenty of action along with the reasoning for political and military decisions. Good people on both sides make the ultimate sacrifice and some bad folks get what is coming to them. I liked major Campbell's bating of a useless officer when they were besieged. When you are facing death and for a female something worse before, one should have some fun. Given how things are going in Europe it wouldn't surprise me if a similar uprising happens within the next couple of decades. Although this ends the main story arc I hope Tom is planning a series covering the liberation of Earth.
