The descriptions of the characters and occurrences were beautifully written. I could clearly imagine everything as I listened to the audio version of the book. The narrator was pleasant to listen to. The emotion, cadence and rhythm were perfect. I throughly enjoyed this book. Thank you Kate.

It pains me to give any book such a low rating. I almost gave it two because I actually finished it hoping for a more satisfying explanation than I had already guessed. Sadly, I’d guessed right about the villain and motive, though there were a few minor surprises. A slow building storyline, boring domestic scenes, unrealistic relationships and emotional responses for anyone above middle to early high school age, and clumsy to the point of torturous prose made for a feeling of wasted hours I wish I could have back. I just can’t recommend this to anyone, especially not as a thriller. A sad 0 stars.

Getting all the clusters life gone awry to align can be daunting. This story is quite convoluted with so many events leading into confusing directions. IMHO, Ms. Moretti has done an excellent job of bringing it back to a satisfying conclusion. I recommend it.

This started off slow... Very slow. I was actually tempted to stop reading at one point. Then I checked out the reviews and they all talked about the ending, so i decided to keep going.

I'm glad i did, because it did speed up towards perhaps, the last quarter of the book.

Good story, some parts were predictable but no, not the ending. Good job there.

This book was slow, predictable and unrealistic. The characters were unlikeable, childish and boring, none of them came off as senior undergrads. The Jack character was totally unbelievable and unrealistic. I eventually skipped from chapter 17 to 42 and missed nothing because there was a Lifetime movie style recap that told all, I still wasn't impressed. The last two chapters were the saving grace because some unexpected twist came out but its not enough to recommend anyone suffering through this book. I hate to be so harsh but this book was awful.

The back and forth in time seems part of the landscape of contemporary fiction for 2021. Chapters alternating between characters is also common.

I find as long as the writer keeps her reader securely connected to them, the novel not only makes sense but the plot moves on a steady pace. A story is told.

To have five college graduates devote themselves to a summer of gap after graduation, allows the novelty to attempt a familial feeling for those involved.

The true personalities of each swim to the surface forming a charm not as sweet as this reader desired;traits hidden reveal themselves mirroring reality too quickly.

Glad I read it. Glad I am finished.

I did not stop reading this book from moment I started until the moment I read The End. A story of friendship and the consequences the past can have on the future. Kate Moretti takes you down paths to sidewalks with cracks and then around a corner into a garden. But what is waiting in the garden? This is most definitely the one of the best thrillers I have read in 2021. I highly recommend you pick up this book and don’t put it down until THE END.
