Series Info/Source: This is the fifth volume in the Gideon Falls series. The series is six volumes total. I bought a copy of this graphic novel.
Thoughts: In this volume our characters are trapped in many different versions of Gideon Falls. Clara is in an Old West version, Father Fred is in a pretty nifty cyberpunk version, Angie is in some weird military run version, and Norton is missing completely. The Laughing Man is chasing them in every version and in the end they will need to come together in order to stop him.
The panel layouts go back to being very creative and interesting in this volume. There isn’t a ton of character or story development here though; our characters are just running from one panel to the next trying to avoid the Laughing Man and get to where they need to be to end it all.
My Summary (4/5): Overall this was a decent continuation of this series. I continue to enjoy the panel layout and illustration, however there was mostly just a lot of everyone running around here. I am eager to see how things wrap up in the final volume.
So I purchased Glideon Falls V.1 3 weeks ago and I finally decided to continue with it after thought and reading reviews and I bought Vol.2 to 5 and read them all the same day they arrived. The story gets more interesting after v.1 and as a person always searching for great horror comics; I enjoyed it, so much so I read V.1 to 5 the next day back to back I was stuck! Can't wait for the ending V.6! ... Glideon Falls is entertaining!
The art is great, the dialogue is good. But a key issue with the series as a whole is that it just keeps building up and building up, without fleshing out the story or the antagonist or the plot. The concept would be more interesting if Lemire spent more time fleshing it out. Each volume puts more pressure on the next volume to be good because it just keeps building up, this being the penultimate volume doesn't create much hope for the finale as there are a lot of things that need to be addressed, and realistically I don't know how he'll be able to wrap things up nicely without it coming off rushed.
Pandora's Box has been opened now after Volume 4's events, and the multiple universes are starting to collide in possibly the best volume yet. Amazing artwork as always and thoroughly enjoying this series.
The first 2 volumes were good .......until i got lost just like the characters in the story!!!! Because I've purchased them all....I will purchase the volume #6 to end the story! I might have to read them all again to get the hang of it....but I really lost
