Glad I read Haunted: Perron Manor first.

The book deserves more of a 2.5 star rating but I bumped it because it is worth reading after Haunted: Perron Manor. The author could have easily incorporated the prequel into the first book. As it is, the book is dryly written - almost like a manual. I understand Mountford is writing the novel as if the protagonist had written a nonfictional history but it reads like he had taken his backstory notes and thrown it into a novel. Again though, it is worth reading. I would just wait until after you read Haunted.
