I read many fantasy stories and like giving my personal opinion on them, honestly and without being crass. The story, while a very interesting story line, is overly descriptive. Page after page of non essential information of meaningless stuff that in no way helps the story or storyline. Once you say the sky is blue and clear, you dont need 3 more pages of descriptive wording just for the sake of making the story longer. I noted areas where in the book, someone askes a question to another character, then the 3 pages of nothingness, and when i thought finally the question would be answered, there wasn't any answer. I think even the author forgot there was a question asked but when he got into the descriptive narration, he forgot about the question. It was also odd that the main character was so driven, and yet he literally gave up on a close friend Kaep for dead before making sure. Lastly, it was kind of confusing to read. In one breath the main character is acting as if he can take on all the enemy no problem, and in the next breath, he thinks he and all the good people will die. Kind of wishy washy. So, story or plot was exciting, and I bought and read all 4 books, but honestly, they were a disappointment, and that is the sad thing because I feel it could have been written better and with less descriptive wording. 3 stars only because i feel the story was interesting, otherwise it would receive a 2 star rating.
