WORKS GREAT and fits in my pocket unlike the smart phone it's replacing. The directions are crap I went online and got better ones. Still to many bells and whistles when all you want is a phone and one is not easy to figure out without going online for better instructions.

What to do with Tracfone? Bought & went to Public LIbrary to set up with chat and they dilly dallied around so long that Library was closing and now I have nothing! Disabled military veteran with no phone!! Tracfone insisted they must call me back? Not sure that they grasp the notion that I am trying to buy a phone! If had a phone, wouldn't need to have a TracFone now would I? So how could they call me back?

I got this for my sister (who has mild Dementia) I have an iphone and am pretty smart on these things. I simply cannot get the phone to even dial a number. Most certainly an elderly person will not be able to
use this phone. COME ON PEOPLE: MAKE A SIMPLE PHONE FOR OLD PEOPLE !! GRR !
wasted time and money. Plus the phone stinks (great to damage the brain as well as frustrate a person) No wonder it is cheap. don't buy this. Tracfone was great, incidentally but the phone is very VERY difficult to use

My wife liked the ease of which to make and receive calls. Handling messages or other features not so friendly without a touch screen. In all honesty making and receiving calls using a key pad was top criteria for selecting this phone. It does that very well.

I got this for my mom. She doesn't use it for anything but emergency calls in her car. I do wish turning it off was easier. Having to scroll down to turn it off after holding the power button is a pain and really confuses my mom.

This is a newer version of my very old basic flip fone that served me for my needs. I do NOT need anything other than a device to call for help while I am out on the ROAD. My only complaint is I should have kept my old one as this one is a pain in the neck to add names and numbers into.

Good replacement phone with minor trouble

I ordered this basic flip phone for my 74 year old father. I liked that the phone is affordable and it has bigger buttons. I also like the SOS button on the exterior of the flip phone. I was able to fully customize it to accommodate my father's needs and set it up to be easier to use for him and more user-friendly. It wasn't exactly user-friendly at first until I changed half of the settings on it. The instructions that came with the phone are not that well-written to understand if you aren't good with setting up cellphones, but fortunately I set up my entire family's smartphones and flip phones so I would say that I am an expert at it. This is the third flip phone from tracfone that I have had to set up for my father so I knew what I needed to do regardless of the poor instructions. His 1st flip phone from Tracfone was discontinued, his 2nd flip was a little complicated for him to use well, and this 3rd flip phone is way better than his LG class flip phone. Typing the alphabet on this Alcatel phone is a little complicated (took me 5 minutes to realize it's new typing style) until I went into Settings and changed it to the old typing style of older flip phones. Once you change it to the older typing style, it is easier to setup his contacts and to use text messaging. If you only want to make calls, it is perfect...just type in the number and hit the green button to call or hit to the red button to hang up. I set it up to automatically answer calls when he flips his phone open and hang up when he closes the flip. I like how it tells you on the exterior display of the phone who is calling you. You can change the text to larger text in settings to make it easier to read for the visually impaired. I had to set up his entire contact list which is easier to type his contacts if you mess with the typing/keyboard in Settings first like I already mentioned. It was easy to change the display, volume, brightness, ring tones, and notification tones. You can set it to "read aloud" but I disabled it because I found it to be annoying but it may be useful if you are hard of hearing. I like the SOS button on the outside which I programmed it to my phone number. You have to press the SOS button 3 times in order to make the SOS call. You have to press it 4 times if the phone is currently sleeping. The 1st press is to wake the phone up, then hit it 3 times until you see the green dot which means it is calling your emergency contact. I suggest getting your phone set up by someone technologically savvy with phones who can make it as simple as possible for you to use. Overall, I like this flip phone after changing its settings. It is better than the previous 2 flip phones that he owned.

The print for the Quick Start Guide instructions, are way to small to read, even with magnifying glasses. Once I read everything and get use to this cute little phone, I think I will really enjoy it. I don't have to buy a phone case or covering since it is a flip phone. I like that. I like seeing the date and time lit on the cover. It is very brightly lit in red and large enough to see without glasses. You have to recharge it after six hours. It comes with an FM radio to be used with earphones/headphones.

I got the phone. i put the SIM card in as directed and put the cover on. I charged it up. I called TRAC FONE (in the Philippines). I sp9oke to a young gal who assured me that she could take the right information. She took my information and then transferred me to what she called the CORD man. He said my phone would work at a set hour.. It did not. The young lady called back and said that it was odd that it did not work. She tried to problem solve. In the end, she told me to go to Amazon and return it because she did not know what to do. She thought there may be a problem with the cord, the charger, the SUM, etc.

I had a TRAC FONE for many years. I Am just amazed that I am having these problems.

Since it does not work, it is not easy to use, I do not think it has face recognition nor a fingerprint reader.

All I want is a simple phone that can be used in emergencies. I do not need an I phone.
