How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsInteresting Series
Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2020
This series is easily a love it or hate it series. The universe is comprised of the “real” or “meatverse” where humans reside. Humans about to die and with enough money can choose to enter the “subverse” where they can exist forever in a digital state. Additionally with enough money you can have different digital versions in different “submerses”. Further, the different digital versions can merge to share experiences and gain intellect. There is one remaining digital verse, the “underverse” or basically hell.

The main character, Joe Pikeman, is a Guardian which are the police force for the universe. Joe just happens to be best Guardian of all time based upon his kill record. He find himself in a variety of adventures which test his strengths to the limit. Joe hate the “subverse” and has done everything to avoid entering but finds that there actually is a digitized version of which he has no knowledge. Due to his proficiency as a Guardsman, Joe enters into training to become a Shiva Knight, which leads to additional adventures.

3.0 out of 5 starsSolid three stars. Gets very repetitive
Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2021
Non-stop action, POV character is going to die (millions of others always do), then voilà, there is one thing that someone remembers/thinks of/intuits from hidden sources, that saves the day/hour/minute. Then everyone is going to die again, rinse, repeat. And so these books go, on and on. Don't expect character development, logic, or believable dialogue. Do expect endless drama and a high body count. I had to stop after too many repetitive cycles of the same story over and over.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay series, not great

Mostly seemed like a retelling of Star Wars. Main character, ghostly mentor, and cyborg villain, even uses blasters and a sword that can deflect blaster bolts. There is also a lot of the Matrix in the series. A lot of treachery involved. Plus the annoying daughter who acts just like the teenage females in horror movies where you tell them to stay in the car and be safe, but they never do, which causes trouble for themselves and the main character. I always finish a series even when they aren't written as well as I like. I usually give them a chance to redeem themselves. The main character seemed to be very naive and way to trusting. And I had the tendency to say to the main character "Use the Force, Luke". The parallels were very close. Like I already stated, okay series, but not great.

Scott has up and done it again! Wrote a fantastic story that will keep you turning pages. Characters well thought through, story line well crafted, there's not any fluff with this author, just great writing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and fun read

Started reading SF in 1954, pulp magazines. Never read Space Operas until a few years ago. Scott writes with an action packed and enjoyable to read style. They're a little off the wall at times but fun to read. His style is such that you want to keep on reading and sometimes forget the time. I recommend his works to those who would like an enjoyable experience and have some time to travel into the uncharted regions of the mind.

This was my first, but not last, experience reading Scott Bartlett. Read the box set of Shattered Galaxy and found not only a compelling story but a new author, who for me, has that magic of writing good Sci-Fi that rises above words to vivid images of the characters and action without over-explanation. Look forward to exploring more of his writing…

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a utopian future!

The author has done an excellent job in creating a reasonable future look at where our quests for eternal relevance may lead us. Yes, it is a series, but the series feels “grounded” in terms of human nature.

I find it remarkable to be able to feel the story as well as reads it.

I know you will enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great science fiction. Scott has created a yarn that will hold you in reading mode.

I couldn't put this one down. I read right through the entire set within a few days. The image of what mankind visited on themselves after wrecking their lives the physical world is given up and the majority of people upload themselves to live in the Virtual one. Some people will not give up their bodies and stay in the real universe. The main Character is one of them and he joins the group called trouble shooters which leads him on an unbelievable quest with his main enemy posing as one of his virtual crew.If you like creative science fiction, Scott creates it!
