How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I love this book! Written by the experts, this book is more informative than "What to Expect When You Are Expecting". I read both books during my pregnancy. Once my son was born, I read "The Mayo Clinic's Guide to Your Baby's First Year", which was also very informative. I recommend anything written by the Mayo Clinic or the American Academy of Pediatrics. You can also find helpful information online...just search Mayo Clinic and the topic you are wondering about.

3.0 out of 5 starsBetter than most books on the market but still not that informational
Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2019
The book is better than others in the sense that it provides more medical explanations to prepare you to pregnancy (it does not just give the stereotypical advice that baby is now 10 inches tall so time to paint the nursery) but I was looking for more detail (what is exactly happening? How is the placenta forming? More than just "now his heartbeat can be heard", give me some data from medical studies explaining after how many weeks do you actually hear a heartbeat, how fast does it beat, how to identify it during an ultrasound etc). There was barely any data relating to miscarriage, which is a shame when you know that a lot of pregnancies end in a miscarriage (which was my case). All in all, there wasn't that much information I didn't already know from hearing women talk about their pregnancies around me.

I love that this book covers ALL options without judgement just facts. All Natural in your house to scheduled C-section in the hospital and everything in between. It was just updated and covers the most recent birthing options, exercises, lactation options, and labor education. I am reading with my first pregnancy. This book makes be feel better prepared and not as scared of what is to come. Thank you Mayo Clinic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great general knowledge book for pregnancy

My wife is pregnant, we got this book for general knowledge and that is exactly what it is. It's a perfect go-to book when we have questions. For all you pregnant women, please do not Google symptoms and questions. Invest in a good book like this one for your answers. It's worth it and your child will appreciate it in the future :)

I debated whether or not to buy the "What to Expect While You're Expecting" series and I am glad I did further research and found the Mayo Clinic's Guide... This is a scientifically sound text that will answer ALL of your pregnancy needs & then some. I highly recommend it to all expectant mamas!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable Source of Information

The internet is dark and full of misinformation, but seriously, it is. If you want a reliable, well-researched source of information regarding conception, pregnancy, delivery, and post-delivery, this is a good place to start. It's not a hard read; there's lots of pictures, diagrams, and charts covering female anatomy, diet, and so on. I would recommend this book to anyone who's never been pregnant before.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for pregnancy!

I love this book! I work in the medical field and found this book to be a wonderful resource during my own pregnancy. It tells you about the babies development weekly. It gives you a monthly workout. It tells you the pertinent information on what to expect during your pregnancy (about doctors appointments, how your body is changing, and more). It has a reference where you can look up information on symptoms you may be having and what they mean. It also gives some great baby information (Example: crib/car seat safety, how many diapers to expect, how to breast feed). There is so much great information!

Very helpful and informative book for those planning to become pregnant or already pregnant. Mostly everything you need to know is in this book. It tracks your pregnancy week by week and discusses common symptoms during pregnancy, as well as pregnancy complications. It also has a section about postpartum and the newborn. Overall, it is a great reference and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth it.

Me and my husband have been trying to get pregnant for about 8 months now. No luck so far but I have been wanting to get a couple books to educate myself and just learn as much as I could about pregnancy and the do’s and don’ts. I was worried about getting this particular book because some of the reviews weren’t so great but I’m glad I did. This book is very informative and educational. I have learned so much already and I’m only on chapter 5 of 30. It has already helped me understand a lot about my body and how hard getting pregnant actually is. Also very helpful on how to prepare your body before you even get pregnant. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is pregnant, trying to get pregnant or just wanting to learn more about it before trying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guide for first-time pregnancy!

I am in month 7 of my first pregnancy and have slowly been working my way through this book. I read the chapter on the month I'm in, then pick another chapter or two to read each month, such as the one on prepping before birth, the one on C-sections, or the one on the process of childbirth. The information is great, is science-backed without being dry and boring, and is realistic without being over-the-top dramatic or scary. It's easy to read in small chunks at a time and also easy to go back and re-read or reference something. This book had better reviews/recommendations than the What to Expect series, and though I haven't read that one, I'm glad I picked this one!
