Bittersweet and Beautiful

What a lovely sad charming heartbreaking uplifting book. It took me a while to really get caught up in the story. It alternates perspective so that one chapter is written in the voice of Lenni, age 17, and the next in the voice of Margot, age 83. And it takes a while to get to know the characters and to figure out what’s going on with them. Throw in the fact that nearly each chapter tells a story from a different time period in that character’s history and you can see how it is rather daunting to reach the point of being lost in the book. To be honest, I nearly stopped reading about 1/4 of the way through. I’m glad I persevered long enough to fall in love with this sweet story.
