5.0 out of 5 starsEnjoyable and fast read
Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2021
I have read so many of Danielle Steel's books over the years and some are amazing stories, others enjoyable. This was a combination of both. Nine Lives is about Maggie and how she avoids daredevils who love danger. Her Dad was a Navy flyer who died in a training mission because he loved the challenges of flying. Her brother died while fighting in Irag because he loved action. Her husband died in a plane crash that she survived. Maggie met Paul while in high school and they became best of friends, but he was a daredevil and loved danger. They went their separate ways after high school. Maggie led a dull life. Paul raced motorcycles and cars. He loved challenges and danger. They meet by chance after 30 years and after the death of Maggie's husband. Things start revving up for Maggie and Paul and their life is an adventure. If you want a quick read with adventure and excitement, I recommend this book.

2.0 out of 5 starsA Big Disappointment

I’ve been a Danielle Steel fan for more years than I can count. I’ve read every book she’s written….some great, some good and a few that were just alright. From the first chapter of Nine Lives, I felt that I’d already read it a few times. This seems to be her go to plot recently. Go to Europe…all in love ….tour Europe with….Etc. It was predictable and as the characters walked through the beautiful cities of Europe, it became so repetitive I stopping reading sentences and began scanning paragraphs and then pages just to get through it. I had the feeling of “been there, done that.” Even the end was expected!

4 1/2 STARS!

Danielle Steel always tugs on my heartstrings! Wrapping a character around her reader's heart is a true talent by Steel that shines through once again in her newest release NINE LIVES. I felt like this book had a lot more narration instead of dialogue, but I was deeply entrenched in it throughout never the less. The only thing I wished for was a bit more time with them at the end. I devoured it quickly and was left with a smile on my face!

Maggie is a relatable character who uses life's lessons to guide her in how she wishes to pursue her future. She shared a young love with a sweetheart of a young man, but went on to wager the bet of life with a more stable, dependable man. She never regretted her decision and lived a fulfilling life with her husband and beautiful son.

Tragedy has had a way of taking things from Maggie throughout her life and one more strike leaves her reeling and adrift. A happenstance reconnection with that dashing man of her youth brings a light back into her life that she didn't even realize she missed.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys following a character through the foibles of life toward that long sought after HEA.

I love Danielle Steele's books and Nine Lives did not disappoint. Maggie's mother warned her to stay away from Paul as he was an adrenaline junkie and would only break her heart. She took her mother's advice and let him go but she never forgot him.

Thirty years later Maggie has become a widow just a year ago and has a son on his way to college. She is still grieving her husband and is barely existing. Her neighbor, Helen, helps her come back to the living. She also suggests Maggie take a trip to places she always wanted to go. She took her advice and while vacationing in Europe runs into Paul. All the old feelings come back for both of them but he is still an adrenaline junkie.

To find out where things go between them you will have to read the book. I loved every minute of it and didn't want it to end.

I think I've read most of Danielle Steel's books. They're entertaining and easily read. The problem for me is they end too quickly. Lol Loved the characters in nine lives although Aden seemed a little too perfect for a teenager. But I guess for all that Maggie went thru in her life, Aden' s character was a reward well deserved

I love books by Danielle Steel, and this one was no exception. The characters were well defined, and the plot kept moving at a fast pace. Ms. Steel's books cover a wide variety of topics from race car driving to royal families to hurricanes to Super Bowls and family dynamics, and she handles it all with knowledgeable insight and keeps her readers riveted. Since she has many books that come out at the same time, I wonder if she writes them all or has her minions do them under her supervision (not that it matters, just curious).

Can't begin to express my feelings for this wonderful book. The story is one of the best reads I have been privileged to enjoy from the very beginning to the end! It was so intriguing I didn't want for it to end. Thanks Danielle Steel for never disappointing your readers!

I read it in less than a day and cannot wait for her next one to come out. Each one just gets better and better. I have loved her books since I was a teenager and am 51 now and still get excited when a new one is published. She is just the best!!!!

I have not been impressed with the last few books that Danielle has published. However this book was like her earlier works. This book was very good with interesting characters and beautiful places around the world. I'm glad that I read this one.

I rate almost all Danielle Steele books with the same 5-star rating unless I totally dislike the book. There have been VERY few books that I have disliked of hers. I just love the way she writez; I won't offer anymore than that. I'm not a book critic, so don't expect me to critique it.
