I enjoyed parts of this story and parts of it were a bit of an eye roll. Not sure why authors like to do the klutzy accident-prone thing to women, and keep it past the point where it detracts from the character, which is what I felt happened with Avery.
Avery is a sweet life loving, free spirited young lady that is chasing the stars across the planet. A bit absent minded at times and prone to innocently getting herself into sticky situations. She is discovered by Colt, as she is using one of the cabins on his property without paying for it. To say things got off to a steamy start between these two would be mildly putting it. Once they came up for air and Avery told Colt about her predicament being the Dom that he is his protective instincts came to the forefront.
A good portion of the book is mostly their sexy times, closely followed by Colt bemoaning the fact that the ladies seem to only like what’s in his bank account, which is why he has kept that he owns the place a secret from Avery.
I did enjoy Avery’s innocent way of looking at the world, I could have done without as many klutzy events that seemed to plague her. For a Dom, Colt sure acted like a scared boy at times. His over reaction to an event just made me roll my eyes and wonder where the mature male went too.
So while it was a cute book and both characters for the most part were extremely likeable I didn’t find anything new or exciting to this story to lift it out of being just another story with some BDSM parts and a misunderstanding that could have been fixed in a matter of minutes instead of dragged out for days.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
