I have always loved all the James Dashner books, I’ve read the maze runner, scorch trials, death cure and the kill order and I’m excited to read this too and give to my friend to read because she also loved the series. It’s a cute little book too :)

Most disappointing book I have ever read.

Boring. Very very boring. You see, Newt is like one of my favorite characters ever. And ya know what shank, i don't think Newt said shank once. This main character (who ever the shuck that was) was very flat and like i said, boring. If Newt wasn't supposed to be going insane from the Flare, I'd say Dashner was on drugs and drunk when he wrote this all in the night before it was sent out to pofessional reviewers. We learn nothing new in this book (besides a klunky side story about this really annoying chick and her little mute kid.) I'm honestly very confused about this whole entire book. If i hadn't read the synopsis of the book I wouldn't know what was bloody happening most of the time. On top of all this guess what, drumroll please............................................................................................................... Page 250 never plays out in this. I am confused beyond reason why so much was skipped.

Fans of The Maze Runner series will enjoy this bite-sized book! I remember reading the series and absolutely loving secondary character, Newt. Now there’s a whole book about him! Who can complain?! Just like in the Maze Runner series, Crank Palace gives me what I loved best about the books: action, adventure, and twists and turns. New characters like Keisha were easily my favorite. Her backstory was equally heartbreaking. As always, the world-building is top-notch. The storyline leaves no room for snores. Even when I knew what to expect, I just wished this didn’t tear me up all over again.

Highly recommend that you read the first three books before turning to this one. However, I don’t feel like you have to read Crank Palace to appreciate the book series. Crank Palace is a guilty pleasure for those who want to dive back into the dystopian world with beloved Newt.

Newt!

I’m a big fan of The Maze Runner and have read the series a few times. Newt was always my favorite so to discover a newish novella from Newt’s POV after he left his friends was bittersweet.

The story gave us an insight into what the Flare did to a person’s mind and what it was like to live among the Cranks. And Newt, as usual, was still Newt. Such a great character.
