Works if plugged directly into USB 3.0 port, but supplied with USB 2.0 cable
Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2021
This USB 3.0 video capture device works acceptably if plugged directly into a USB 3.0 port on a computer, but it is supplied with a USB 2.0 cable and the instruction manual explicitly warns the cable may not be compatible. Why ship a cable clearly labeled and known to be insufficient to work?
In my case, I was able to get video (V4L2) and audio (PulseAudio) capture using OBS (Open Broadcast Studio) under Ubuntu Linux, provided that I plugged this device directly into the computer, but that puts undue mechanical strain on the jack as opposed to using a cable. What was especially maddening is that there is a comparable $9 device — https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BZQQQZS/ — that _does_ come with a proper USB 3.0 cable.
