I really like this series, and I was so excited to get this new Jacky story. Overall good story with great characters. My one complaint is that Jacky seemed kind of whiny in this one. Don't want to give away too much of the plot, so I'll be brief. Jacky gets into trouble (not a new occurrence for her), but in this one she really is to blame.
Previous books, trouble really did come to Jacky; however after a couple years of experience and really becoming familiar with how the supernatural world is Jacky finds herself in trouble and brings trouble to her family because she was lazy and careless. Then after really making a mess of things, she gets pouty and whiny because her family is angry with her, even though they have been giving her advice about how to avoid getting in trouble.
I get a bit frustrated when female leads in action/paranormal stories are supposed to be tough and smart, and they do cringe-worthy, kinda stupid things. I know the fun of the series is that Jacky is young and brash, but hopefully next time she is not so self-centered and whiny, and actually learns from her mistakes. That being said I really love the male character Heath and all the other supporting characters we get to revisit, as well as the new ones we get to meet. All in all pretty good book, and I'll be back for the next book in the series.
