Great hardware, needs some firmware work

Before purchasing, I was skeptical of the OBSBOT's tracking and gesture controls but, much to my surprise, they work like a charm. That being said, I've noticed a few issues that I can't quite get over. Every so often (maybe 2 minutes or so) there will be slight artifacts in the camera (i.e. a black bar appears for a few frames, the webcam feed turns green etc.), additionally, the stock settings for contrast, brightness, and the works are god awful and the software is a necessity to get a good looking picture. I will definitely continue to use it because the features are so useful but a firmware update to fix these would be extremely helpful. For those that are wondering, I downloaded the software on their website and changed the camera settings to 39 brightness, 59 constrast, 55 hue, and 53 saturation to get a decent quality picture.

This product is NOT compatible with Mac OS. The program works but you can’t use many features as it requires you to upgrade the firmware but the firmware is in compatible with Mac current OS… Not only that, all the review videos online and buy the company show them using a mobile app… The mobile app is for the tail not the tiny… And there’s no way to use the app with the tiny because the tail is a Bluetooth item and you have to connect that way but for the tiny, there’s no way to bypass this step so therefore it does not operate with phones

I had some misgivings about making this purchase since there were no reviews from paying customers, but the camera is impressive on all fronts. Video quality is on par with my Logitech webcams and tracking is accurate and easy. I haven’t cared to experiment much with the gesture control, but using the app from their website you can lock on the subject and it tracks without error. I’ve been using it for teaching through zoom and it allows me to walk around, gesture and emphasize points like I would in an in person lecture. I think it really adds something to my presentation that you just can’t get from the standard laptop mounted webcam view. It’s a great value and I’m glad I took and chance and ordered one.

I'm giving this 5 stars - there are a few things id' improve, but at last someone has come to the market with a PTZ camera at the right price point - with an amazing AI tracking.

Having used Cisco Telepresence for this type of functionality - this little guy is going to be a hit. and it's got a bigger brother in the form of the obsbot-tail.

There are some bits id like to see:

- a parking feature. Either buy gesture or no movement/person detected the camera would move and point into it's base and LEDs turn off. a nice privacy feature.

- Not to function when no app is using it and above happens if apps are closed.

- some kind of fire TV or Google TV compatibility and Skype or zoom app.

- general privacy. The app is not digitally signed.

When I saw this PTZ camera my first reaction was the picture quality was okay. I hope the camera quality would be worth a trying it out.. When I received it I was very disappointed... I couldn't get it to work I couldn't get the hand signs to work... I couldn't get it to connect to anything... I even had trouble finding the online software for the camera that was supposed to control it manually... I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it so I decided to return it... I even tried to get help from a YouTuber that I watch to quite often he basically said he wouldn't waste his time with it because it was "a webcam". I really needed the follow-me feature so after waiting a few days I decided to try it one more time. It took some time. I don't know what was the problem originally but I got the hand gestures to work, I found the software... got it software to work... with the camera software that came on my laptop by clicking on the reverse camera button. I got it to connect with my ATM Mini Pro as my 4th camera through Microsoft camera software... I was able to live stream on YouTube for a test so I'm not completely convinced yet on the durability of it but I'm willing to give it a chance... They say there's another version coming out for this product I'm anxious to see it.

I intend to give this another review after I've used it for a Time hopefully it'll earn the five stars.

Red led bar of death

When it works it seems great, but it only seems to work for about 5-10 minutes then the red led bar of death occurs. Does not matter if the camera is directly plugged into a USB port on the computer or through a USB c/3 rated hub. Camera is not getting hot, but only seemed to work again after a 30 minute disconnect. Tested with two computers going to test on a third but I suspect I will be sending this back as a bad product.

Buena cámara, se ve robusta y los terminados son de calidad. Cumple con la descripción, es decir, la calidad de la imagen es buena a 1920 x 1080, pero cuando se aplica el zoom baja la calidad al ser zoom digital. También reconoce los gestos para el seguimiento y el zoom sin inconvenientes. Hay que tener en cuenta que al hacer alguno de los dos gestos que reconoce la cámara, es recomendable hacerlos a la altura del rostro y en un fondo que no tenga muchos colores u objetos.

Lo único negativo es que después de unos días de uso, la cámara a comenzado a hacer algunos ruidos que me han generado dudas respecto a la calidad de los componentes internos del dispositivo. No sé cuánto tiempo pueda durar funcionando correctamente y si debido a ese ruido se pueda estar generando algún daño interno que con el pasar del tiempo la haga inutilizable. Eso sería una lastima ya que está cámara me ha parecido genial y por el precio es una muy buena compra así que sería desafortunado que por algún defecto de fabrica deje de funcionar.

Great webcam hampered by some odd software choices

As a pan-tilt-zoom webcam, let's just start by saying you can't really get more value for money than this one at the time of writing (July 2021). I bought this to replace a Logitech C922 ProStream that seemed to have real trouble with its auto white balance and other colour functions.
The obsbot cam works and it works reasonably well. The three tracking modes - normal/motion/headroom all do what they're supposed to and it does kind of become a plug-it-in-and-forget-it device.
Criticisms:
- unless you specifically use their desktop app to 'sleep' the camera, it appears to be on all the time. The status light on the front implies that.
- Caveat: if you tilt the camera down to face it's base, it does cut the video so while it's not really 'off' (the status light is still yellow), the video is cut off
- The firmware update requires it's own app, which works - but it takes an AGE to complete. The app indicated 10-15 minutes to complete but by the time it was done it was 1hr 50 minutes. That's unacceptable.
- Gesture control is definitely a gimmick - it works about 50% of the time and does seem to prefer the right hand.

Pluses:
+ MUCH better video than my Logitech C922 ProStream. Night-and-day difference in the same shooting environment. The Obsbot default settings seem to give a much more natural skin tone. With the Logitech I was always having to manually fuss with white balance, brightness and contrast and it just couldn't ever really deal with artificial light sources, even a studio light.
+ The zoom function is well implemented and seems to not be a lossy digital zoom, implying that the sensor has more resolution than advertised (because there's no mechanical movement in the lens when it zooms).

The software choices definitely have an 'alpha' feel to them, like they're not really ready for mass market use, especially the need to have the desktop app open all the time just to properly sleep the camera.

But yeah - totally worth the money I spent on it - great improvement over my Logitech C922 ProStream

Great Quality Web Camera for Video Calls and More...

The OBSBOT Tiny Webcam works well as advertised, it is great in low-light settings and tracks very well. I am using this camera on a Mac with Monterey and it does work fine. You will need to download the latest operating software for the OBSBOT for MacOS Monterey in order for this to work properly. I did however have an issue with the firmware crashing when trying to be updated on the Mac.

After emailing them, they responded in an acceptable length of time and stated that they were aware of a bug that was causing this and would have an update soon. When the update came out, it seemed to get farther into the update but still crashed towards the end, luckily, it seemed to take the update once rebooted. I still think they need some work done on the software to make this work better.

The OBSBOT seems to work across a range of applications with no issues. I primarily use it for Zoom and Facetime and it works very well. The resolution and clear video is a major upgrade from my aging 720P built-in webcam on the iMac. I would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to upgrade their video conference game.

The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because of the firmware update issues. I have just connected it to my Windows laptop and installed the software and did it that way. If they can get this worked out on macOS then it would be a 5-star product.

This webcam has some awesome features that respond to hand gestures like zoom in/out, and it panning/tracking very, very smoothly (read: pro level) when you walk around the room. I just couldn't get past the price of this camera, and another one I bought that is 4x less and measures very well (Nexigo) against this (Osbot). I wanted to love it, but the pricetag was too steep in the end.
