How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsIn charge

After researching every option, manufactures as well as reading reviews and watching videos we purchased the Jackery 1000 power station and two Jackery 100 watt solar panels. I wanted to have a solar unit on our camping trips as well as for possible emergencies at home as a quiet and reliable back up to our gas generator. The Jackery arrived with a 39% charge out of the box. I read the directions and set up the panels on my balcony facing the sun the next morning. It is a very easy set-up. I turned the panels as the sun moved across the sky to optimize the rays hitting the surface of the panels as directly as possible about every 15-20 minutes. We're in Southern California and it was a clear December day. With both panels connected I was pulling in about 135 watts to the Jackery. By early evening, an hour before sunset the J1000 was fully charged. My only rub is for $1600 + dollars you would think Jackery would throw in a carrying case for the station... You have to order it separate. A cooler bag will work fine for much less. Also, the panels do not have a carrying case. They have no protection when on the move. I purchased a artists canvas portfolio bag. Keep the cardboard box the panels came in put it in the portfolio, and voila! A protective carrying case for the panels. I'm going to get an additional Jackery 1000 to use while one is charging as a backup while running our 12V fridge. The Jackery seems to be the best option until new technology arrives.

Update, 6 months later: Upon using The J1000 to run our 53qt. 12V camping refrigerator/freezer the results are in.
We started with a full 100% charge on the J1000. The refrigerator compressor fired right up and began cooling. After 24 hours the reading on the J1000 was 80% charge. Periodically I opened the fridge to check and simulate actual use. After 48 hours it was at 40% with, of course, 20% power remaining. This means mathematically we can run the fridge approximately 60 hours on the J1000 without recharging on one power station. Excellent. I have purchased another J1000 as a back up while the other is charging. That should easily give us 4-5 days without even recharging. If you are considering a solar power unit, I don't believe you'll go wrong with the Jackery line. I'm very picky and critical of commercial products and have surprisingly pleased, so far, with Jackery. BTW: Most important, their customer service is second to none, having contacted them with questions and experiencing quick responses. I'm an avid camper, prepper, actual paying customer, and user. No axes to grind, no bs.

3.0 out of 5 starsMake sure you are buying what you need!

We bought the Jackery 1000 bundle with 2 solar panels directly from Jackery (sorry Amazon), based on great customer reviews, and thought we would be happy. The unit seems like it would work well, with one very important exception, at least for us. We live in northern New York where ice storms can take down power for days or even weeks at a time. As my wife has medicines that HAVE TO BE KEPT COOL, we bought this as a back-up in case we lose power, hoping it would run a small refrigerator to keep her medicines cold. I'm sure the unit would power the refrigerator short term, but herein lies the problem (for us). The solar panels CANNOT get wet with rain, ice, sleet or snow, so they cannot be used outside in inclement weather. If you place the panels behind a large picture window, it greatly reduces the charging power of the panels, and would quite likely be unable to keep the battery charged. The part that irritates us the most is that nowhere on Amazon's nor Jackery's website does it display this information. We did not learn of this unit's limitations until the package arrived and we poured over the enclosed literature. Lowe's has a similar powered unit for half the price ($1,999.99) that has weather-proof, roof mountable solar panels. Had we known then what we know now, we never would have bought the Jackery 1000 bundle.

4.0 out of 5 stars MISSING SOLARSAGA PANELS

*Update 3/4/21 I received the solar panels about 6 days after getting the main unit. I was finally contacted by Jackery customer support 5 days after i first emailed them and called them several times. I havnt tried the unit but am raising my rating to 4 out 5 stars since this unit came highly recommended by Hobotech on youtube. wont give the full 5 stars only because Jackery customer support response kinda sucks.

I bought the Jackery 1000 +2X 100W Solarsaga panels but ONLY received the main unit. NO panels arrived. I emailed Jackery customer support today and will wait their response. I read that items may ship separately so i will update this review soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised- lots of nice features

The panels are 100W and when you use both of them they can produce around 180-190 watts, but the jackery battery can’t accept that much during charging. So the 2 panels they provide in the kit are almost overkill. 1 panel can almost hit the battery thrwshd for charging in good sun, but I suppose if you’re In partial sun both of them are needed to hit the max charging point.

I’ve been charging my battery off the 12v port while I drive my truck and camper, and when I set up camp throw the panels on the roof.

One of my fav features is the voltage sensing from the 12V so of the truck or camper battery starts getting g low the battery will stop or slow the charging. Won’t kill your vehicle battery!

I’ve been on a 3 week roadtrip, and the jackery and solar has been perfect to keep my smaller portable batteries, devices, and rechargeable room fans going. This 1000W jackery is also running a smaller window AC (450watts) in my camper. When I use the solar to assist, the whole 1000AH battery with solar inputs will run the AC for a couple hours. Enough to cool it down while I’m cooking or hanging out mid day in the heat.

My only regret is not getting the 1500 jackery that has more peak watts and can run a larger portable house AC with more BTU.

4.0 out of 5 stars Keeps my CPAP running all night.
Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2021

Use it for camping. I can run my CPAP with the humidifier and heat set at 80 degrees all night and use about 55% of the available power. It charges up using the solar panels in about 8-10 hours. A review said it was very quiet but with the power draw of the CPAP the internal cooling fan comes on every 20 minutes or so depending on the ambient temp. The cooling fan sounds like a moderately noisy cooling fan; not extremely loud but not quiet either. I got used to it after a night or two and it didn't wake me up after that. The solar panels are kind of bendy flimsy and a little clumsy to manipulate. The Velcro that attaches the supports is surprisingly strong and can be a bit of a battle to get them released. Perhaps like most Velcro, repeated use will wear down their holding power. It's frustrating to release one support and then while struggling to get the second one released the first one swings back and reattaches itself to the panel. All in all the unit does what it is supposed to do. A good solution when the sun shines.

4.0 out of 5 stars After 3 months, some thoughts
Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2022

I bought this because we have a cabin in the mountains where the electricity goes out often with storms/high wind. I also bought the Jackery 300w mini, thinking one could be powering the fridge while the larger 1000w could go downstairs for the heater. But in the meantime I have been recharging it daily to see how it works and here are some observations:
1. My heater is gas, and when on, the electricity surges to 700w or 900w for short bursts. This makes the 300w not able to be used on the heater, and drains the 1000w faster than I would like.
2. My garage deep freezer cycles from 4w to 60w many times a minute when cooling. the 300w won't work on it, haven't troubleshooted it enough to find out why.
3. My fridge generally is 60w when working and can surge to 180w when the ice maker is used. Both of the Jackery batteries work well on the fridge. I can power the fridge for about 14 hours. I can power the fridge for 3-4 hours with the 300w.
4. When the 1000w is hooked up to both 100w solar panels you need to use a splitter to connect them that comes with it. The MOST I see it uploading power with 2 is 130w. Why?
5. When I put one panel connected to the 300w and 1 panel on the 1000w they both power up in full sun at about 80w. So brand new, the panels are 80% efficient. :( it takes most all of day to power the 1000w up.
6. I wonder about the efficiency of other brands with their panels, are they better? I think a also saw a brand where you could send a power source to another battery. So for instance, if I could hook the 300w to the 1000w, that would give more of a power supply and I wouldn't have to check up on it as much.
Conclusion: I was hoping for the amount of $ spent I would have enough power to keep the fridge going 24/7 with a couple opportunities to heat up the house 2 or 3 times. But instead, for quite a bit of money, I bought about 18 hours of power for one fridge.

Updated Review:

Fully charged I am able to run my imaging equipment for three nights although summer nights are not very long, but, after the three sessions, we have 63% power left over. I connected the two solar panels this morning to monitor its charging; it went from 63% power to 91% in 3 hours with the panels not being very exposed to sunlight when I set them up. Very impressive, and very promising.

Will be contacting Support for extension cables; I can't find them on their website and everywhere else it seems extension chords that could work with Jackery are marketed as Goal Zero.

=========================================================
The reason I bought Jackery instead of a Yeti was the price per watts. I was initially disappointed in Jacker's user documentation, and I still am. I have my unit now which arrived without the solar panels; I hope they arrive sometime soon. The unit is being charged; it looks pretty, but looking at the documentation and information shown on Amazon, you could be concerned about the USB ports, for example. Technical Specs on Amazon says it has two USB-C ports, one rated at 5 volt and the other at 9 volt. This could be very dangerous since they are not distinctly marked on the unit and not mentioned at all in the "single page" documentation. The attached image that includes two snapshots from Amazon and one from documentation shows that the one from Amazon has mislabeled the USB-A and USB-C ports any way. If one of the USB-C ports is delivering 9 volts, and if I plug something that is rated for 5 volts into that port and my device is damaged I am calling Jackery and not happily. I have a feeling the two ports are both rated at 5 volts considering Jackery has other mistaken information on the picture.

I will come back once the solar panels arrive and update my comment.

Ok, definitely not a lemon. However, it won't operate my 800W slushie machine, even for a second. It was a tall order, so I'm not that disappointed, but because it's not returnable, I can't swap out for the 1500W model, and I don't like running my generator with gas, so I'm just kinda stuck. However, it handles my Sunkist 600W juicer (I sometimes run a fresh lemonade stand. Solar panel charge depends a lot on the angle and time of day, but not bad. If I'm just using the juicer, approximately 100 lemons over 4-6 hours, the power stays close to 100%. Same with direct current from my car battery. You can plug them both in - the generator has a hierarchy of inputs :AC plug > DC panels > DC car battery - but will only charge with one at a time. Sturdy.

This was great! Had a power outage about 3 days after getting this and it came in handy. Watched 2 movies on the Xbox one and the generator powered the Xbox, TV and a sound bar. The only issue I have with it is the splitting cable that came with it doesn't fit the solar panels. It seems to be the wrong cable, so I can only use one panel at a time not both.

Really like the portability of the device and haven't had any real issues. This would have received a five star but the maximum power output that panels have been able to generate is 130W combined. Because it comes with -100W panels, which are nice and portable, I would expect these panels to produce closer to 200W in full sun.
