First let me say, I am a huge fan of Dannika Dark's Seven Series as well as the Mageri Series. This book is technically a stand alone book but if you have read both of the other series then this book just hits you even more. We have caught glimpses of Lakota growing up between two worlds over the course of the other series books and we have seen Melody grow up and pursue her dreams.
The Vow finds Lakota now a Bounty Hunter and Melody opening up a brick and mortar store with her best friend Hope, Lakota's little sister. When unexpected complications arise right before the opening of their store, Melody makes a journey to Oklahoma to try to fix the problem. There she unexpected encounters Lakota while he is undercover. What devolves from there is exciting, funny, steamy and fully of suspense.
I have to say some of my favorite moments of this book were the times were Lakota and Melody let their guard down with one another and the insights into each other they discovered.
I absolutely loved this book. Sometimes with "next generation" books you feel like those characters dont live up to the original series. This was not the case. For those who have read both series, you can clearly see traits in Lakota that stem from each of his parents. He has Logans honor, Silver's humor, Ivy's Spirit and Lorenzo's sense of tradition. I really loved how Dannika Dark really weaved together a character so influenced by so many different elements of her series.
I loved how bold and self confident Melody was. You can see how growing up with her pack shaped her idea of love.family and the importance of those things in your life. She still has a free spirit but a smart head on her shoulders and a brave soul. She fights for what she believes in and isn't afraid to go after whats important to her.
I wish we got more time with the secondary characters, especially a appearance by Silver and Logan would have been nice considering they are his parents as well, but i understand that you just cant fit everyone into a book like this. I loved this story so much and I cannot wait for the next book which might hopefully but Hope's story.
