Reading a new Kristen Ashley book is like finding a Christmas present in July. It is always a treasured treat. There is just something so special about this author and the way that she crafts her story and characters that are unlike anyone else out there. It is part of the reason that in a world of acronyms that just saying KA and people automatically know what the letters stand for.

I am loving this new series of interconnected standalones. There is an underlying story that seems to be intermixed and leaves a little bit of a mystery to be carried over into the next book. I am not sure how she manages to do this considering that the story is finished but not finished at the same time. In this case, the "bad guy" from Evie and Mag's story is in this one too, however, he isn't a bad guy, just his actions haven't always been conducive to being a standup guy. I actually really hope that he gets his own story because there is something special about this character. He fits in with the typical OTT KA man and I dig that.

I was expecting this to be more BDSM focused since the sneak peek from the previous book talked about Boone being a Dom and Ryn being a sub. However, I really didn't find that to be the case in this story. Boone reminded me of every other KA hero with his OTT possessive, dominating characteristics while also being caring and attentive. He liked being in control like all of the other guys. I am not saying that as a bad thing because trust me it wasn't. I just was expecting that it would take the direction of the Honey trilogy and that was not the case at all. I thoroughly enjoyed Boone and how he was with Ryn. Ryn was a solid female character. I did have a few issues with her but that had more to do with the backstory of her niece and nephew. I had a hard time wrapping my head around how far the author went in making a point with her niece and that entire situation. However, I did like that there was a change in regard to a certain situation with one of the parents of her niece and nephew.

I can never recommend enough how amazing this author is. Granted, I really won't have to since just her initials alone show how huge her following is, and with good reason. This book is just another example of that. There were hints of what and who is to come next and I look forward to that. Another hit for this author

This could have been a 3.5 or 4 if we didnt veer away from the mercenaries who fell in love with a group of strippers. Instead we get sucked into the world of rock chicks, Knight series, chaos and every other series the author has ever written. It was one big mash up that made for confusing and sometimes painful reading. Not even a few chapters in we have the hero Boone going to a meeting where 575 former cast members are mentioned. And not natural references either -this is Luke married to X and he was sitting next to Lee who was married to X and there was Ally married to X at the table across the way. On and on it went until I felt like 30 people must have been in that room. My eyes glazed and I skimmed because I wasnt interested in any of those other people. I've read their books. I'm here for the new guys and want to grow and love them and delve into them merging into a strong group. That was weakened by having Boone split his time with 50 other guys instead of the small 5 man crew that were his boys.

I also didnt care for the writing style. I'm used to KA's writing and wandering thoughts but this felt at times like a letter to herself. (Ex: Hawk was here. Many will wonder why I choose to describe him at this point now but I will any way. He is hot.) It was so odd and disjointed. Lots of parenthesis and oh by the way, and before I forget, oh and also this.

Next I didnt care for Boone. After telling Ryn he didnt want her, he shows up all in for a relationship. He's going thru her phone after one date, telling her he doesnt want people calling her and upsetting her. Next he's asking if he can answer her phone. I guess to yell at people for being mean to her?? After one event he demands she unlock her phone so he can call one of her contacts and give them a piece of his mind. Ugh. I just didnt like those little behaviors of his and I was mad Ryn didnt push back more. Oh and thats not even mentioning him going to Smithie's without telling Ryn and trying to get her put on leave from work when she's in danger. He went to her job!! Of all the overstepping nonsense he continually did, this one made me grind my teeth.

Lastly the sex. I tend to enjoy KA sex scenes but not when she ventures to BDSM. It is without a doubt, full on awkward turtle, EVERY time. I've read bdsm, I've read some extreme kinks that I thought would turn me off but the author makes it sensual and super sexy. KA's version of bdsm makes me cringe because it is so awkward, weird or something I cant put my finger on. The heroes always come off as if they're playing a role that doesnt fit them. She just doesnt do it well and I wish she'd let it go. A couple can have sexual taste that varies without it being defined as bdsm.

All in all I'm disappointed. Especially since I really loved Dutch. I initially liked this series and thought we'd have a new group of guys to learn and love but the cast is too big if it constantly requires Brock, Mitch, Lee, Hawk, Rush etc plus their respective spouses make an appearance. I'll think hard before buying the next one in this series.

The dynamic between Boone and Ryn: **Chefs Kiss**
I have read the entire Rock Chick Series and a few of Kristen Ashley's other books. I enjoy the formula...to a point. When it
1. Gets to the point where the only way the heroine finds vindication in thru love, and being bullied into that love
2. Gets too Meta: hate the crossovers. Hate it so hard. I hate that instead of being able to enjoy a new series, I have to remember 100+ characters from a different one to know what was going on. Think having Addison from Grey's Anatomy showing up for one episode and being awesome vs the entire cast of Private Practice showing up, even though it's been ages since you've watched the show.
3. The long winded declarations. Is it great that they love each other or someone is in a drama filled fight and it's fun to read? Yes. Do I want one character to drone on for two straight pages? No.
4. It can't stand on it's own. If you haven't read the other series, you wont understand most of what's going on.

This book did NONE of that. And added more pepper to it, making the series begin to stand on it's own two feet instead of being a meta Rock Chick novel.

Boone has faults, issues and isn't perfect. He's a rounded person. I love it. Ryn is the same way, and to add on, they compliment each other sexually perfectly. Boone needs control, Ryn needs someone she trusts enough to give control. Boone needs someone to care for, Ryn needs someone to care for her. I could empathize and really root for Ryn, she was just a really great girl who was tired of being a side character in her own life. And Boone helps her get started, but she takes it from there. And reading about a girl finding vindication thru herself, and being the literal main character of her own life, I love it so hard.

I am so down for the rest of this series and I recommend it to anyone else.

Bobo's Book Bank
4.0 out of 5 stars KA knows the magic formula for a lightly suspenseful, saucy story

Dream Chaser is the second book in the Dream Team series. It's a standalone but you'll get more out of the story if you start with book 1!

Ryn Jansen has been stripping for years, putting aside her dreams of becoming a house flipper in order to help her alcoholic brother and his ex with their kids. Boone Sadler is determined to protect Ryn, even from her own family but Ryn has her heart heavily guarded. However, when Ryn finds herself in the crosshairs of a deadly mystery, she knows that Boone is the only person she can trust to keep her safe.

First a warning: Ryn is a submissive and part of the attraction she has for Boone is that he's a dominant. Overall, the D/s play in the story IS sexy but tame so if this kind of thing bothers you, don't let it deter you from trying this book!

Again, I was so incredibly happy to see so many familiar and beloved characters from various other series. (Hello, Tack, you handsome devil!) And yet, the guys and gals of the Dream Team are definitely squeezing themselves into my heart! KA knows the magic formula for a lightly suspenseful, saucy and charming story. And for me, it was all about Boone...talk about a sexy beast! He wasn't perfect, he had issues that got between him and Ryn but that's what I loved about him. I loved watching him become an even better man for Ryn. Of course, Ryn was the strong heroine that can always be found in KA's books (quirky, smart, funny) and she fit it perfectly with the Rock Chicks!

This one was 4 stars for me but I know I'll be revisiting it so it's going on my READ AGAIN E-SHELF! Told from dual POVs with a happy for now ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Dream Chaser by Kristen Ashley is the second book in her Dream Team series, and it was an absolute delight to read, delivering exactly what I expect from a KA book!

I am thoroughly and completely and totally head over heels in love with Run. So giving, so caring, so loving, so blind to what she deserves in turn, so very sweet. She is the most amazing aunt, has so much love to give, and I was rooting for her, just wanting her to find the love and support that she needs, that she deserves, that she has absolutely earned.

And Boone? Holy moly! I swear, I was a melted puddle of goo each and every time his presence hit the page. SWOONWORTHY and demanding and caring and the perfect foil for a woman that took on too much and just needed support, love, care, and someone to take over the reins every once in a while, something he excelled at, let me tell you!

This CHEMISTRY is killing me in the best possible way! Their relationship dynamic, the push and pull, the sizzle, the simmering, it is HOT and definitely had me requiring respites and tall, cool, glasses of water to recover. And I loved every single moment of it!

All in all, this story will have you riveted, invested, hungry for more, and continue to deliver excellent characterization and engaging narrative! So, dive in, for another Dream Team story! You won't regret it!

P. S. Jethro is ADORABLE. And Portia, she's feisty and sassy and it's endearing.

P. P. S. Cannot wait to find out more about Brett!

P. P. P. S. Seriously. That. CHEMISTRY. UNF!

4.0 out of 5 stars Huge fan of KA

I am a huge fan of KA. I have had one of those like/dislike relationships with her books, but that doesn't stop me from going back over and over again.

The 2nd of the Dream Team is finally giving her man a shot, but of course things are never easy.

Ryn has been avoiding getting involved with Boone from the start, totally going against what she really wants. After trying and being turned down Boone has moved on to someone else. When something happens to possibly put Ryn in danger, he's back.

Ryn finally come to terms with what she wants lays it out why they can't be. Boone immediately goes about rectifying that situation.

They start dating, but of course there is some danger surrounding Ryn, plus family drama.

What I liked about this is how open they were with one another. It wasn't always easy to be that way, but they would actually talk and not just steamroll over the hard topics. This book was definitely pulled at my emotions more than the first book did.

What I didn't like was that it wasn't as much action as the first book and what I thought was going to be the norm. There were also a few typos that were unexpected and made me have reread sentences a couple of times to make sure I understood it correctly.

Overall, the good definitely outweighed any issues that I had. I mean I was obviously enjoying this book since I started reading last night and did not put it down until I finished the very last page.

Book 2 in the dream maker series. For sure start with book 1. Mostly because I LOVE book 1, and also it will make for a better read/ this is not a stand alone.
Also there is an earlier event in the story line that’s repeatedly mentioned but from a another series the author wrote. I can’t remember that far back. I don’t really remember what happened to Corrine. It’s obvious she is dead. Didn’t really help me remember more, I struggle to remember why I walked into the kitchen/ so...
Next- I extremely like the heroine. RYN. She’s interesting, cool, funny, she has hang ups I find myself relating to. The heroine has some profound statements and thoughts attributed to her- so much so I would not give up on this book when it dragged just in case there were a few more kernels of wisdom to be found here.
I was blown away by the h’s explanation of why she did so much for others. The exploration into her SHERO complex was entertaining and illuminating. There are some pretty profound take away lessons for me delivered by RYN. Therapy for under Three US currency, can’t beat the price.
The big misunderstanding the couple experiences was emotionally dramatic, Boone overreacted. It led to some real angst for RYN. In some ways unnecessarily so, but again, very entertaining. I found myself mad at Boone and his friends like it was happening to me, so yes it’s well written. The story then takes a turn with Chaos involvement in a great way- sometimes the blending of series doesn’t work out- with these scenes it really really did, in a big way. For me. There was a moment when I wondered if perhaps RYN would be taking a walk in Gwen’s sexy shoes- If you know what I mean- wink wink- I think I was really down for this turn of events. Again, I’m sincerely miffed at Boone. I. Some ways Boone failed to cement himself as boyfriend material for me. I accidentally called him Danny while writing this review at one point- and I’m currently wondering if his name really is Boone- he didn’t leave a good enough impression on me. I LOVED HIS PARENTS. RYN and I are on the same page there. Considering how well His DADDY turned out, I do see good things to come. Very good things. He comes with the ideal in-laws and a bunch of hot guys- *We’ll Allow It* #GirlCode #AlphaDrama

Dream Chaser is a sweet second addition to the Dream Team series. I loved Boone and Ryn’s relationship and I thought Dream Chaser started really strong. Boone and Ryn have great chemistry and both of them are likable, strong, and sexy. Ryn’s family dynamic and Boone’s unique brand of hot work in a big way. Their relationship offers a great little window into the varied world of D/s and this is fun to watch develop between Boone and Ryn. Dream Chaser offers plenty of great moments with cameos from beloved Chaos, Mystery Man, and Rock Chick characters. I LOVE how KA does that!! It feels like a bonus epilogue every time.

A little more than halfway through the book, some of the really great drama that had been building kind of stalled out. I think what’s happening here is similar to what underscored the Chaos series, where we observe small pieces of a huge villainous plot throughout each book. But I was prepped for more danger, dang it! I was sure there would be more resolution, but maybe it’s just that I didn’t like how certain storyline ended with more questions than answers. I prefer things wrapped up with a bow.

Overall, the struggles relating to Ryn’s family drama and Boone’s unresolved guilt were plenty for this plot line and those issues were well resolved in the end. I just expected something dastardly to happen or to receive more resolution than I got. Definitely a good read. Can’t wait for Hattie and Axl’s story next!
