To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Simply gifted author who weaves a tale where you can experience, see and feel, the people and worlds she creates so clearly. This tale of a dystopian society hinges on steampunk. Nothing is what is seems on the surface so you have to scratch below that to unveil the inner workings.
We meet the main character Star who is preparing for a ball at the governor’s mansion where the young ladies of notable status are to be courted by eligible men and are expected to choose a husband. She is resistant to choose a husband and is quite adept at loudly pointing out the flaws of each potential match. Rebellion and bombing break up the party and soon Star finds herself running for her very life. She soon uncovers that nothing is as it seems and trust should never be given lightly.
Great tale and I had a hard time not being able to read it straight through but so worth it. Awaiting eagerly the next part of the trilogy.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I have to start out by saying that I love steampunk/alt world stories. Many times the stories fall flat but this story did not. You may also be like me and hate Star (the main character) in the beginning. She is awful at first, but believe me, she grows on you. I fell in love with the characters and their stories. I just wanted to keep reading. I can't wait for the next book!

This story started out like so many other stories with the stubborn girl not wanting to marry. However, that had a bunch of twists that I did not expect. So much different than the normal boy meets girl stories! I had an ARC (advanced reading copy) so there was some editing mistakes and typos, but hopefully those were ironed out before the book went live. The story was well thought out and contained descriptive writing that could place you in the story. You could feel the characters feelings and picture exactly what is going on. Every time I think I figure out how it's going to play out, another twist happens. Such a creative spin on the world being "different" (dont want to spoil how its different for those who havent read it yet). I honestly enjoyed this story, as I do most of Alexia's stories! Very easy read and hard to put down!

I loved this story. At first I didn’t like Star’s much and was so not on her team but her character grew and now I can’t wait to read more! I am still new to steampunk stories. I haven’t read many but this one was great! I was telling my daughter about it and she’s now reading it!

Well, this is different than I read before from this author, but it’s just as good as the others. And what’s more it has something else I like, a feisty female. This could be what I hope is the start of a long series. Couldn’t put it down. Highly recommended.
I am happily surprised with this story. I had no idea where it would take me, and I'm still guessing! =D I'm thankful book 2 is available because I need to see where Star's tale goes. If you like a little mystery with some cloak and dagger, this is definitely your book. I highly recommend you give it a try.
