What's not to love about a family of Knight's? Of course, that is their surname but four brothers and one sister begin the start of this new series. If this first one is any indication, sit back and prepare to love this family!!
Rowley Knight, the Duke of Knighton, our hero, is the eldest with all of the responsibility of three younger brothers and of course his sixteen year old sister, which was presenting the most pressing problem. How difficult could it be to find her a companion-governess job for Eugenia? Actually very, until his Aunt Violet had recommended Miss Lancaster.
When her father gambled away all their money, Emma Lancaster had no choice but to find a position. With the help of Lady Hambridge, her godmother, she obtained the job as companion to her niece, Lady Eugenia. Little did she know, her brother the duke, was the man she despised most in the world. She prayed he did not recognize her.
Oh yes, this could get interesting and boy did it ever!! He, with all his worries and structure and she, with her own emotions and sad happenstance as to where she ended up.
A marvelous tale with a Knight that you could not help but love. He needed someone to love and love him in return and Emma needed the same. I could only sigh as I turned the pages, while my heart smiled at the end. Just perfect.

This was another great book by Elizabeth Johns. As always, her characters were well-written and I immediately fell in love with them. You can tell Elizabeth writes from the heart.
Emma is down on her luck, but getting a job as the companion of the Duke of Knighton's sister is really the best thing until she realizes she has secrets that may not stay hidden if she remains. Rowley Knight, the Duke of Knighton has sworn off marriage and keeps others at a distance. Unfortunately, Emma is not someone he can keep his mind off from. Especially when he has to keep rescuing her.
I absolutely loved this book and all of the characters. I look forward to the rest of the series.
I highly recommend all of Elizabeth Johns's books. If you enjoy this book, you will also like the Lorring-Abbott series.

Actress or governess

Rescued from the streets by the manager of the theater and offered the job of acting, Emma finds herself being accosted by a Duke’s brother. Imagine finding herself the companion of that Duke’s sister. Rawly, the Duke of Knighton, thinks she looks familiar but can’t quite figure out why. This author is new to me but I must say I loved this book and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books

Loved the story...even if we can know how it should end, l love the way Elizabeth weaves the story in so many different directions...all interesting...full of characters and their flaws...until justice is satisfied and love conquers all! Love it!

Clean romance

Elizabeth Johns writes well developed characters and plots and this is true to form.
She takes difficult situations and does not go into detail but gives enough to convey the horrors that can be.

Rowley is a man who became the head of his family at a young age and learned that he wasn’t always valued for who he was personally but what the world sees. So he puts his effort into his Dukedom and family.

Emma struggles with similar problems as what is seen outside but not necessarily what is inside. She has been left to provide for herself in a harsh world and so she focuses on survival.

When they are placed together they find the true selves of each other as well as discover what they have to offer if they are willing to let down their guard.

This is a clean romance but the villain and the related vices can be disturbing to read but the author handles it with taste.

I look forward to reading more of the siblings in the Knight Family.

Sweet story with unexpected twists

Rowley Knight the Duke of Knighton needs a companion to help guide his sixteen year old sister in becoming a lady. He is a solitary soul and dislikes having another woman in his household but feels it is necessary. His aunt recommends her goddaughter for the position. Emma arrives to find she is working for a man she despises and fears he will recognize her. As they get acquainted an attraction grows but the past intrudes and causes mayhem and danger.

This is written with wit and humor and a cliche plot with a different twist that makes it an enjoyable read. The characters are well written and I became invested in their happily ever after.

This was a lovely story and a great introduction to the Knight family. I rarely if ever enjoy governess/employer tales; however, this one was perfect.

Emma Lancaster finds herself placed by her godmother in her nephew’s employ. A nephew that Emma hates and hopes will not recall the one time they met in the past. A nephew she blames for ruining her family.

Rowley, Duke of Knighton, has foresworn marriage. He has decided that he has enough heirs in his younger brothers. Yet, he can’t seem to keep his mind off Emma. She’s familiar and oh so intriguing.

I enjoyed their slow burn into love. It was refreshing and not the least bit icky. This family is awesome. The men are simply the best cinnamon roll heroes. I can’t wait for Edmund’s story.

The duke finds more than responsibility.

Rowley has said he would never marry. His life is filled with responsibilities for his younger siblings along with thousands under his authority. He has felt this responsibility since the age of fifteen. Emma has been hired to be a companion to his younger sister Eugenia. Emma seems familiar and is hiding something. She does not truly obey his command and is it hate in her eyes when she looks at Rowley? Where does he know her from? What is Emma hiding from?
