I loved The Flight of the Kingfisher, the first book of Chloe Garner‘s Carbon Chronicles series, but somehow managed to miss the release of The Journey To Verona (Book 2), The Battle of Allion Fall (Book 3) and The Redemption of Maribeth-5 (Book 4). It’s times like these when you have to live Kindle Unlimited as, having realized what I missed, I was able to rectify it in one mighty multi-day binge. My sweetie is kinda annoyed with me, as I’ve sorta ignored him while gorging on this bookly goodness, but he’ll forgive me and it simply had to be done. These books were just too superbly (abs addictively) fantastic. Pretty much perfectly written with great plot lines and developing story arc, perfect universe-building and perfectly crafted lead and supporting characters. Really, the short-hand review for each of these books is easy - (you guessed it): perfect. And also books that I am -perfectly - happy to highly recommend.
Wow. I enjoyed the first book and this sequel is nothing short of amazing. Once again the story drags you in and you find yourself immersed in this wonderful futuristic world. You feel part of the crew of the Kingfisher and warm to the antics of Avery , Carbon and Savannah. Not forgetting the captain Monte and the AI Harper. Unlike most sci-fi’s I have read I seemed to connect more with the characters on this book, who gel together so well and form the perfect “ crew”.
Full of excitement, tension and total escapism. Brilliant storyline. You will love it. So looking forward to the next book.
