4.0 out of 5 starsSplit in Two

I enjoyed book two and am ready for three. The storyline is good and I like the characters. My biggest hurdle was the fact that she finds the love of her life yet they are only briefly together in either book before something tragic happens and she's off alone again. There is little to no romance in this series, although it's clear they love each other. I would say this storyline is really more about her and her becoming who she is meant to be. Finding her true self, not about the romance or love story. I hope there's more to him and her together as a couple then her going off alone to face her battles in the next book, but it's not looking that way at this point. Let's see where she's headed in book three.

The second book is slightly better than the first. I really like Leia Stone. I don't know if these were some of her first books but they still feel rushed with not much depth to them. The characters feel shallow and if I'm being honest I don't love Sawyer and Demi's relationship. There are a lot of red flags and no trust between them, however I will continue to read this story because there is enough there to be intriguing.

This series just keeps getting better and better! More action is being taken with the wolves + vampires and it’s getting serious!

I love these two so much! Though, I do wish Sawyer wasn’t always trying to coddle Demi, but I can also understand his protectiveness.

Can’t wait to start book 3!!

So I really like the book. However these cliffhanger endings are too much. This book was like 3 days and it was so stretched out like crazy stretched I think the first book was kinda the same like this could have been like two books total I think but the story is interesting. I just feel like you could skip chucks and it wouldn’t really throw you off much.

I am LOVING this series. The mmc is a little…weak? Wishy-washy? I hate to call him whiney but he kind of is. Demi is the star of this series and the rest of the characters cannot keep up with how great she is. Sometimes she gets a little annoying and ā€œpick me,ā€ but she’s such a strong character that her proudly-donned sartorial and aesthetic choices, along with her swampy, judgmental inner monologue, are easily outweighed by how smart and strong she is. LOVE.

*I left a review on goodreads back in April and completely spaced putting one here!*

Thank the heavenly stars for that ending. I was SO worried we would get another huge cliffhanger like the first one. This ending I can absolutely handle. Makes me think of the end of a good tv episode.

As far as the story goes I was really enjoying the first half until she got back to Sawyer. Granted it did have some good in it, I just found Demi a little annoying at that point. ā€œWhen is he going to propose?ā€ Ummm... girl there’s a war brewing can you think of something else? Lol on the other hand she does the right thing and I feel like I know where this might be headed and I also feel like she’s going to step into an awesome role and seriously kick ass. She’s a character that’s flawed and yet relatable. Sawyer still makes me cringe. Only due to his possessiveness. HOWEVER...would I like to wrap my fingers in his hair and make sweet sweet love to him? (Sorry, Demi) I would. LOL.

Overall the story was great, the sacrifice made me CRY UGLY TEARS! And I’m SO looking forward to the next book coming out soon

3.0 out of 5 stars Love this author

Let me preface I absolutely love this author, I just think there are more talented ways to write that will leave a reader enticed, and wanting more, without a cliff hanger.

In this book, I really wasn’t impressed with the male lead. I feel like this entire book he was stuck behind a wall crying and pathetic instead of putting on a brave face and rallying. He just seems weak and dependent on his mate. In fact it’s actually a little weird because these are the characteristics you see in most female leads and while this female lead had her moments of angsty, whining, she picked her self up by the bootstraps and kept moving forward. Even before his family is dealt with loss, when he finally gets her back he’s all needy, angsty, and unrealistic. I get his need to want his mate safe, but there’s a line he keeps crossing where it’s a little disrespectful and insulting to his mate. his constant feelings of sheltering her as if he forgot she journeyed through hostile territories while he sat there with an ankle monitor on....It just feels like he has no respect for what she brings to the table. He leans on her a lot but then wants to act all alpha. Its not a good look for him. I was not impressed that he gifted her with bracelets that dampen her power again. I mean if anything I feel like the female lead should’ve been a little taken aback. Everything in her life has been affected by an inability to control or have access to her powers and his response is that the bracelets don’t lock and she can take them off whenever. Still . Pick a different piece of jewelry (a ring, necklace, earring) the idea of a bracelet should’ve had really negative connotations. There should’ve been some PTSD bc that was thoughtless.

There’s a few more things I felt could’ve been different but this was my main issue. I’m not chomping at the bit to get my hands on the next one, but I’m sure I’ll read it. I really hope both leads work a little more harmoniously in the future.
