In this episode, the Yellowjacket’s speedy flyer, the Lightning Bug, is overwhelmed and two crewmembers are captured. Captain Brynn Jameson’s arch-enemy, Darian, demands they give him the Lightning Bug in exchange for the crew members. Brynn realized that he could not allow the Zariat to discover the secret of the Trinium reactor, which gives the Engel ships unlimited fuel and firepower, so he planned an ambush instead of an exchange. The crew and flyer were recovered, but Brynn was injured and captured. Will Brynn and the Cheechog prisoners survive the torture Darian had in store for them? Will the Yellowjacket crew be able to discover where the captain has been taken, so they can attempt a rescue?
This is an easy read – I finished it in one sitting. It provided me the escape and entertainment I look for in space opera, to relax and enjoy the unending action, fights against overwhelming odds and some light-hearted moments. I received an ARC – this review is my honest opinion. I also purchased a copy on release to support this great team. I’m looking forward to the rest of this fun series!
Things go from bad to worse for Captain Jameson as crewmembers are captured by Darian and he insists on trading the “Lightning Bug” for their release. Jameson sets up an ambush for the Zariat and while the operation is successful, things go badly for Jameson when he is wounded and captured. He endures torture at the hands of the evil, Sadistic Darian, but in the process learns of a technological advantage the Engel have over the Zariat. With the help of the Cheechog and another race, the “Sorus”, he escapes once again. As is usual for books written by these authors, there is plenty of good old fashioned Space-Opera action and adventure, with some good ground fights thrown in for variety and they always leave you wanting more. Will Captain Brynn Jameson be able to get this valuable intelligence back to the Engel Fleet command? I can’t wait to find out.
I keep on having this sneaky admiration for Nola and her willingness to fight all out, instinctive, at the drop of the hat to protect all aboard the Yellow Jacket. In Stars Dark 3: Forsaken, she is joined by the yeti ( well, at least that is the image I gathered of her) of the alien species Sorus, in the form of yet another woman, this time named Golia, as a force of nature second to none. And then I have not even mentioned the Chechog or even Zayim! It is evident the group of Engel forces aboard the Yellow Jacket is getting to be the toughest, albeit the weirdest group ever assembled on board a star cruiser. And, as always, the action is fast and furious. Enjoy.

In Stars Dark 3, Captain Jameson's crew is captured and the only way to get them back is to make an agreement to give over the yellowjacket, But Jameson is not going to do that! He plans an ambush and gets his crew back but he gets hurt and captured in the process and is terribly tortured by Darian. He escapes with the help of other 2 races who also do not like Darian and his evildoers! But as these books go there is always some more evil lurking around for another fight, adventure, and more twists and turns. I love everything James and Young do together, they are the dynamic duo of book writing. I look forward to book 4 in the next couple weeks.
The crew of the Yellowjacket are back for another fun filled action adventure as they try to stay out of enemies hands while mounting a defense to repel them. At least that is the overall plan but things go sideways and thus I was widely entertained by the crew. The characters were a blast as usual. New friends are made too. I laughed and sighed and had my fingers crossed that this time the small but mighty crew would get a break. Just lots of fun to read. I received a copy and I chose to review as I loved the story.
The struggle between Captain Jameson and Darius continues in this next volume of Stars Dark. There seems to be no planet in the galaxy where Jameson and his crew cab find refuge. The running battle from planet to planet is great action and fun to read.
