Sigh. Although this book is in the Slade universe and I thoroughly enjoyed every one of those books, you don't have to have read any of those books to follow the story in this one. Sawyer is damaged. His caught his ex-wife sleeping with his best friend and found out the baby he was so excited about was his friend's. After Quinn's mother died she rented part of Sawyer's cabin for three months for a change of scenery and to start writing a book. They both were vulnerable at times and their chemistry was off the charts. Sawyer though would get in his head and would run hot and then cold. I am surprised poor Quinn didn't get whiplash. There were a couple of times Quinn would think back at advice her mom gave her when she was alive and those moments resonated with me. One was when she was a child scared of going out for gymnastics and the other, at the end of the book, was what her mom said about a song they danced to and what it meant. When you read about it, listen to different versions of it and from different artists. Like this book, you won't be disappointed.
