Again, it is nice to read a book that does not have everyone just running forward and doing a WWI charge through automatic weapons. Fire and maneuver, supporting weapons, chain of command, and use of cover and concealment, just what they should have done.
Space battles that are fought without inertial dampeners and crews suffering under high G forces.
Loss of life.
No godlike weapons so superior that just one shot kills the enemy. Tactics and maneuvering to bring weapons to bear at the correct time.
So refreshing to read.
Very good.
Looking forward to the next.

This is the second story that has given a nod to the gay lifestyle. In this story, we get a short chapter of a gay male couple.

An interesting take on a number of SiFi staples

This story starts a bit roughly, like two different writers crafted different chapters. Several of the scenes are pretty odd. But once the real action begins, the story begins to settle down. Given the standards of modern space fiction, some parts of the events do seem like the author sort of equates acceleration and speed. But the action is riveting, the characters real, and the issues coherent. Editing a bit sloppy, but better than many eBooks. The first volume ends on a cliff-hanger.

I read a lot of military SF, or perhaps I should say I start a lot of military SF books, and finish some. While I would continue to put Marko Kloos at the top of the current heap, Mr. Partlow gets into my top five. He has fully developed characters that are human, not mere stereotypes. However, his dialog seems forced in places, and not quite as real as Kloos' or SM Stirling’s.

A terrific space battle adventure that would have received 5 stars but the author really needs an editor to correct all the spelling errors and syntax mistakes. Interesting that he spells National Security like Notional Security and a few times he uses the Captain’s name Travis when Ryan the Marine was speaking. Other than that good story.
