Dime Store SciFi

This is pretty marginal SciFi. It's predominantly stylized ground combat at some far point in the interstellar future where combatants still use M-60's, and AR derivatives, along with wearing plate armor. Frankly half way through the book I was over the constantly overwhelming odds and desperate battles. At one point towards the end I started thinking the whole book was a farce, a comedy, similar to Space Force. It just got stupid ridiculous and started ripping pages out of SciFi tomes, and I mean a direct rip off from Star Trek and Planet of the Apes. Then I realized it wasn't a joke and was meant to be taken seriously. One tip to the author, if you're fighting in confined corridors against a mass of dismounts, you will eventually literally stack bodies to the point that you close off the avenue of approach. There are a lot of questions left unanswered at the end of book 1, but I doubt I'll even remember this book when the 2nd one is released.
