Tynion is certainly writing a Jim Gordon story that keeps readers wanting more. I appreciated that we were able to see more of The Joker in these panels this time around.
The Punchline backup? Eh. I think it really depends on the type of audience you are. If you're a fan of the old Harley Quinn, you will see parallels that might annoy you. If you're some young teen on Tiktok? Have at it. I wouldn't call her an Anti-Harley Quinn exactly; she's more like a New Age replacement. So kids who know nothing will eat her up, but I can see why Classic Harley fans are aggravated. She sort of reads like a Digital Age Kesel-run HQ who was obsessed with Joker from the start. It's interesting what is going on with the Royal Flush gang, and of course we have more development of Bluebird.
All in all, I would say people should buy this book just for Jim Gordon's journey. Tynion is giving an excellent story here! The Joker is my favorite character and I was initially disappointed when I heard Gordon was the main star of the Solo, however I cannot wait to see where this goes.
