This here is a smart story. The author feeds you information on Reapers & Keepers like it's in a book somewhere. I liked that our MC, Louisa, is over 40, starting to enjoy those “signs” that are ever present, and we have a major hottie in Cade, our Level Five Keeper. Now, to know all the differences between a Keeper and a Reaper, you'll have to read the story. You'll learn the most common things about Keepers are that they get hungry fast. I loved this quote, “Another note to self. Eat first. Then drink problem-sized glass of wine or risk drunken-stress-induced hallucinations.”, and helllllllooooo... how can you beat this one, “Honey, these curves were built for comfort, not speed.” That said, Marianne Morea keeps this first in a series jumping with all kinds of fun, ghosts with issues, some heart mending moments, and some great throw-back one-liners from some of our favorite movies. A straight up 4 star read that's gotten me out of a mini reading slump and I'm ready for the next.

This book stood out to me because it had such a unique and interesting blurb. Once I got into the book it was everything I was looking for! Suspense, slight romance, mystery and paranormal. I loved exploring the world as the main character learned about herself and those she cares about. What an epic adventure! I'm looking forward to seeing how this series continues.
Forty is bringing some major changes to Louisa Jericho. She quits her job finds a new avocation and a hot guy to teach her the ropes. She gets to question her life choices make new friends and enemies and finds new strength in kindness. I loved watching her start her new journey and look forward to seeing where it takes her next.
Ms. Morea has written an intriguing and entertaining paranormal women's fiction book about death and soul retrieval. I liked Louisa and found her to be smart and quick when learning her new role as a Keeper. I found Ms. Morea's take on the Angel of Death, the Grim Reaper, Keepers and Reapers to be a fascinating new view on a soul's journey after death. Although this may sound dark and depressing, it's actually a fun book to read as Louisa learns her new role as a Keeper.
This is an excellent well written story. It's entertaining and will hold your attention from start to finish. It has an interesting take on the paranormal side of things. I loved reading this book. You get some mystery, a bit of action, twists and turns. It's an adventure in a whole other world with an ending that'll leave you wanting more. A must read. I'm looking forward to more of the series.
