5.0 out of 5 starsA Love Letter to the Fans!

Cheers to the books that started and ended this series. The the couple that started and ended it all. Cheers to the laughs, tears, heartbreak, and true love along the way.

What a wonderful conclusion to the Off Campus series. Elle Kennedy outdid herself with the stories in THE LEGACY. The book immediately grabs readers attention and throughout the entire story we are reminded why we fell so hard for these characters in the first place! I can’t even begin to say how much I enjoyed reading THE LEGACY, and if I say much more I will spoil something inevitably. Each couple is featured for about 25% of the story which is more than fair and also pops up throughout the other stories too. The way each story is interconnected is flawless and makes the jump from couple to couple easy to follow.

Do yourself a favor and read the Off Campus/Briar U series and read this beautiful book. It felt like the perfect love letter to us readers!

3.0 out of 5 starsDisappointing drama and lack of maturity
Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2021
**There are minor spoilers in this review**

The best part of this collection of novellas was seeing the friends interact. Those scenes and the group chats had a lot of the charm and fun of the original series. I also loved the little easter egg references to other Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen books eg. Wes and Jamie from Him and Delilah from Superfan (Brooklyn Bruisers).

I didn’t love the high level of drama. There were several pretty serious fights that I think could work in a full-length book with more nuance. But with the novella format, I felt the resolutions to the disagreements were way too abrupt for the intensity of these disagreements.

But what left a sour taste in my mouth was the weird gay jokes that kept cropping up in the novellas. First the “LOL the media thinks Logan and Garrett are sleeping together” running gag, then making fun of Dean for the pink dildo from The Score (not this again!), then Tucker makes a weird joke about the “things he’s seen” after being in jail for a few hours. Didn’t love that.

I was hoping for some fluff and relationship maturity and maybe some fun steamy scenes (when the bathroom scene was fade to black in the first novella I was like Elle what are you doing?!) so sadly this just didn’t work for me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much drama, very disappointed with The Legacy

I was really looking forward to reading The Legacy but I felt there was way too much drama. Instead of reading about how happy everyone is we got to see fighting, lies and too much miscommunication between all the couples.
I read the book in a day but I was disappointed 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I was looking forward to this book. But I was disappointed. I already knew what happened with Logan and Grace as that was in an epilogue or document from years ago. Instead of ending the story in Vermont it would have been better to give us a little more to their ending. They were always one of my favorites but this did nothing for me. Also disappointed in the abrupt endings for Allie and Dean and Sabrina and Tuck. Of course Hannah and Garrett we get bits and pieces but not a complete story each chapter was abrupt. Hannah was annoying. I’m always mad when women don’t communicate with their guys. This is a big no when I read. It is a shame that we paid money for disappointment. If I could I would rate a zero, especially since I loved each of the 4 books individually especially Logan’s.

I have looked forward to this book for over six months and I was so excited when it arrived on my kindle. However after reading the book, it was dull and flat, all the way around. I expected more story lines, more romance, and all I received and gathered from this was drama on top drama, with us having to fill in gaps in between the novellas. This book was such a disappointment and let down.

I pre ordered this book the moment I saw it was coming out. I have been waiting to read this for so long, I actually woke up early this morning to dive right in. And I can't believe I am about to say this, but it was almost a complete let down!
It started with Logan and Grace and when I finished with their portion of the story, I actually kept scrolling back to see if I missed something. It just ends. So abruptly. And then the other stories did the same. So I figured, okay, there will be an epilogue to tie everything together. But nope. Nothing. I feel like this isn't a complete story. Sure they all still got their HEA, I assume. But you don't see that. Everything just ends and there are still so many questions left unanswered. This book did make me laugh, but aside from that, I actually regret reading this at all. So disappointing, because this entire series has been one of my very favorites.

The Off Campus series is one of my most loved and reread series ever and The Legacy was the book I didn’t know I needed. It was absolute perfection and returning to this world was like seeing old friends again, I can never get enough of them. These four couples are so special to me and it was such a treat to get to peek into their lives, four years down the road, all just to confirm that they're just as special as they ever were. I loved every moment!

Each novella reiterated the amazing connection between the characters and the love and camaraderie they still share past graduation. The hilarious bromance and swoony moments are still there. And the outcome was heartwarming, fun, hilarious, and extremely satisfying. Also, Alexander and the Coach Jensen revelation was the cherry on the cake..IYKYK!

This book was sublimely written and reaffirmed why I love this series. It just felt like the perfect exclamation point at the end of the story for these four wonderful characters I love and adore. I am incredibly sad to say goodbye to these characters. I have truly loved every single one of the books in this series, and these characters have found a permanent place in my heart. My reader heart is so happy with this bit of magic Elle Kennedy has graced us with.

Sometimes, we as readers get gifted an extended look into the lives of our favorite characters, and man... we should appreciate every last minute we're given.

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: The Legacy is an extended epilogue of sorts. Separated into four parts - one for each couple - it tells the future of the couples we fell in love with in the Off Campus series. Logan and Grace are dealing with the ups and downs of Professional hockey. Dean and Allie are contemplating their future. Tucker and Sabrina are getting married. And favorites Garrett and Hannah are blissfully moving toward a future we all hoped for them.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Books like this aren't meant to be completely groundbreaking, so I wasn't hugely surprised. But when you have another chance to write 400 pages about characters that have a rich backstory, and you have an audience just waiting for this story... I guess I was just hoping for a little more.

I can't go into much without spoiling it. But I will say I wasn't super impressed by how she handled any of the couples. Each went through a huge moment in their sections, and I have to be honest, it felt like she glossed over each one of them. The spice was almost nonexistent. It all fell just a bit short for me - it should have been all passion and sweetness, and I got none of that. Such a bummer because I was looking forward to this.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 3.5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

3.0 out of 5 stars Back into the Off-Campus Universe

Just when I thought the Off-Campus series was over… Elle Kennedy decided to treat us with more stories with these beloved characters.

The way the book was formatted was nice in that each was like a novella, you got to read about each respective couple, and learn what they’ve been up to in the past few years.

Before reading this book, I had a little inkling as to who would be the ones getting married, surprise pregnancy, elopement, and proposal. Thankfully my predictions were true and I think what ended up happening with each couple was accurate for each one.

I loved being able to dive right back into the Off-Campus universe because, it not only gave me the chance to revisit my favorite characters, but also genuinely go back to a series I love. While I enjoyed reading this book, there were some aspects of it that I didn’t really like. For instance, while we get an idea as to what everyone’s been up to, I wish there was more details on what ended up happening such as, after theses *specific events* happen to each couple, I would have liked to see what happened afterwards (hopefully that makes sense). I enjoyed reading this book, but for some weird reason I just feel like it had potentially for more (still loved it though). This book was short and sweet, and definitely had some hilarious moments (IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW). In addition, there were moments where I was genuinely caught off guard & couldn’t contain my gasps of shock and being surprised.

While reading I couldn’t help but think, “Wow it’s crazy to think that all these characters have grown up and changed compared to when we first meet them in their respective books”. The books takes place a few years later, and I think that it was a good idea since we got to see where everyone ended up, especially seeing some of our favorites pursuing their dreams, careers, etc.

Looking back, I loved the way the chapters were formatted, each title summarized each couples stories, and as I mentioned before it made sense for each couple. In addition, I feel like with each couple’s story, the way the book started with a certain couple and then ending with another specific couple made sense, everything came together. The way the book ended made sense to me, it was like bringing it full circle, from the way this series started, it was significant to end the story with *a specific couple*.

I will always have a special place in my heart for these characters, and I was so excited to finally read this book. While it may not have been as exciting as the original books, I still loved it nonetheless. If you’re a fan of the Off-Campus series and you’re curious to see what these amazing characters have gotten up to in the past few years, I recommend reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED THIS BOOK!!

*NO SPOILERS PART OF MY REVIEW*

I was eagerly anticipating this book ever since I learned it was coming out! I watched so many TikToks about this series and it made me feel so validated in my obsession for the Off Campus series and the OC couples. Therefore, I could not wait to read The Legacy as soon as it came out. I refreshed my Kindle app and there it was! I read all night, and slept for maybe 1 hour but I finished the book within 12 hours of it being released. I was SO pleased. This book was fabulous. Though it is 4 novellas (one for each couple) Elle Kennedy did an amazing job of weaving the four stories together and making it seamless. I really appreciated the continuity throughout the whole book. Seeing the group's dynamic was a total highlight of this book. I absolutely loved that we got to see their messages in the group chat and see how their friendships have stood the test of time and distance after their college days are over. I LOVED seeing the mentions of other characters in the Briar U/ Off-Campus universe as well. It reminded me of why I love this series so much. One thing, not a real spoiler but the epilogue is only about one couple, not all 4 like I had hoped and expected. I really hope we see more from the Off-Campus/Briar U universe in the future. If you love this series, you will really enjoy this book.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING THE WHOLE SERIES. IN ORDER. INCLUDING THIS AMAZING BOOK.

****CAUTION SPOILERS AHEAD****

I appreciated that Elle Kennedy added more to Grace and Logan's story given that a version of it was already published 2 years ago (?). I really liked their story. At first I was a little annoyed that it ended on sort of a cliff hanger, but once I read the whole book, it made sense because other novellas in this book ended the same way.

Allie and Dean are my favorite couple in the Off-Campus series, followed by Hannah and Garrett. Allie and Dean's story in this book was great. I really loved getting to see them together again. The main conflict/ problem in their story was surprising to me. Allie's hesitation about engagement, wedding, babies, seemed a little bit uncharacteristic of her. She is SUCH a hopeless romantic, that seeing her be apprehensive about all of those things was confusing for me as a reader and a fan. But overall, I really enjoyed seeing Dean and Allie again. I love Dean so much. He is such an innately good person and so is Allie. I'm sad that there was no "glimpse into the future" for A&D in the epilogue because I would have LOVED to see them start a little family and maybe name their son Beau since Beau Maxwell was such a big part of their story. Sabrina and Tucker's story was also great. I appreciated that the author gave them a conflict in this book that in my opinion was never really resolved/addressed in The Goal. Their communication skills as a couple was beyond bad and frustrating! Tucker's admission to Sabrina that he is unhappy in his job coming as a surprise to Sabrina was bizarre. I enjoyed seeing them as parents to a toddler, so cute! Finally, Hannah and Garrett. The original Off-Campus couple. The people that started it all. I appreciated the premise of their novella, but bringing Garrett's abusive father back into the storyline, but only in a novella was unfair. There is SO SO SO much to say and unpack with regards to that. Shoehorning it into a brief novella was frustrating as a reader because it felt like that needed to be a whole full-length book itself. And Hannah holding off on telling Garrett about the pregnancy was also strange and unlike them. Garrett switching his opinion so quickly about being a dad was way too rushed. I feel like they were a couple who was pretty good at communication so seeing how Hannah handled this situation in this book was surprising. I would have really loved to see Garrett acknowledging that he has a lot of childhood trauma to work through and process in therapy! That would have been some real character development for him. Also, the lack of a wedding for them was upsetting because I feel like they deserve that and as a reader, I would have loved to see thatI!! Lastly, The epilogue was also a bit of a let down as I expected it to be a flash forward for all 4 couples, but it was just for Hannah and Garrett and it wasn't really a flash forward at all.

*END OF SPOILERS*

READ THIS BOOK!!! THANK YOU ELLE KENNEDY!!!!
