I thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series though the first The Crimson Deathbringer was my favorite. The author is Canadian and I love the Canadian references, also the many pop culture references scattered tongue in cheek throughout the books. The boxed set would make a fantastic gift for a sci-fi / fantasy fan who enjoys Star Trek, Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc. It's written as an autobiography of a swashbuckling future spaceship pilot.
I have to say the ability for this author to tell a story has got me hooked. I fell in love with all the characters and it became a goal to find out what happened. The narrator brought the characters to life and not only told the story but had me forgetting I was listening to a book. If you like Sci-Fi that isn't so far out there it can't be real this is a great story for you. It all could happen, and might happen.
Book 2 builds on all the characters we loved at the end of Book 1 and even had me thinking those enemies are not as bad as they seemed at first. This author and narrator have done a stellar job with this book and the series. He breaks the 4th wall in ways that made me chuckle. I can't wait for the next book.
This is becoming an addiction, I love book 3 and found every chance I could to listen to it. Sean has found a way of breaking my heart and loves to kill off people you fall in love with and figure that character is never going away. He left me with my mouth open babbling about they can't be dead, there is no way they are dead, OMG they are dead, why did he kill them there was no reason.
If you are thinking of buying any book in the series getting the box set is your best option, you will not be disappointed. Best 29+hrs I have ever spent!
Also I wanted to note if it wasn't for C.J. Grey I don't know if these books would be the same. I love the full audio production on this and think all books should match this series on quality, attention to detail and overall perfect implementation of how audiobooks should be made in the 21st Century.

I went into this audio book without any prior knowledge of the author or narrator, but I figured that it was high time I dove into another Space Opera, and possibly a military Space Opera novel at that... and boy was I surprised by what I got! This book is so different from the same-old, same-old... and I absolutely loved it! Yes, it's a near-future dystopian novel, and yes it's a first-contact situation with Spaceships, but that's where the similarities end, with nothing else familiar, or even expected! I seriously loved how Sean Robins wove his dystopian world (and freedom fighters) into a Scifi political-drama... and this is how our freedom fighters found themselves, inducted into not only saving the world and human race from themselves, but from alien conquerors too! The plot is so well written, so tightly woven, and so beautifully narrated, you'll find yourself glued into your headset! The story has great characters, plenty of pop-cultural references, wit, and lots of real laugh-out-loud moments! Plus, I found all the action that I could've ever wanted. Crimson Deathbringer will even make you forget about getting a goodnight's sleep! It's Perfect! So do yourself a favor and grab the audiobook because CJ Grey is raring to give a great performance and transport you into Sean Robins future world! And I can safely add that book Golden Viper gives you another fantastic pulse pounding adventure and really why buy the stories separately when can get three for one price!
Started this series and couldn't put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, hated when we lost a good one (ugh...life/death sucks!) I enjoyed the way the book flowed and the author did a fantastic job of building the characters and keeping the plot moving. Action scenes are well thought out and not overly dramatic. I did get a bit tired of the constant movie references in the 1st book, but, that's a personal preference for me. It did not detract from the excellence of the book. I listened to the audiobook version of this book and CJ Grey did a fantastic job with telling the story and keeping me on the edge of my seat (so to speak, since I listen while working) by using his talent. I highly recommend!
I absolutely love this series! This book caught my attention from the very beginning and held it throughout the entire book. It is full of suspense, drama, action, adventure and humor! The narration was superb and gives the story that extra flair! It will keep you entertained! The author did a great job with the character builds and plot! This was my first book by this author but definitely not my last! I look forward to reading more books in this series! Great value for the set. I really enjoyed book 1 and book 2. I'm almost finished with book 3.....another hour or so to go. I'm getting kinda worried as my favorite characters seem to be on the verge of "game over"! I don't know what author Sean Robins is up to, but I'm looking forward to books 4 and 5! Always have enjoyed Scifi and military with a bit of wit thrown in. Did I mention the Alien who loves pulling practical jokes at the worst possible times? A great read worth the listen.
This book is the first 3 books of the Crimson Deathbringer Series. It involves a group of mostly unrelated people who are drawn together to fight of an alien invasion. In the process they learn to trust and depend on one another.
The characters are diverse and some have serious flaws. Sometimes the self pity is a bit overwhelming. But as the series develop the group dwindle due to losses and the group learn to trust and move from one crisis to another.
If you haven't discovered the Crimson Deathbringer series yet, you are in for a treat. Sean Robins is an amazing writer. "The characters were especially likable, and the stories held my interest from beginning to end. C.J. Grey does an awesome job of doing the narrating. I received this 3 book set from the author in his promotion, and this is my voluntary unbiased review.
Having all three of these in a box set was the gift all sci-fi space opera junkies needed. wonderfully constructed and pushed so that character development is not sacrificed for pace. Each volume leaves you wanting more and the next volume doesn't disappoint.
Highly recommend for the fun and interest this drives. just get it.
Absolutely outstanding series. The author easily makes you love or hate any and all of the Characters. I’m not even much of a sci-fi fan, and was still able to get lost in these books for hours upon hours. If you’re considering just one of the books don’t bother go straight for the box set because you’re going to end up getting them all anyways. Eagerly awaiting books 4 and 5.
