This may end up being my favorite Lindsay Buroker series!

There are so many great characters! I love that there is an all-women mercenary unit. She handles multiple points of view deftly, with none of the awkwardness or confusion that some authors have. As usual, she's great at creating interpersonal relationships between characters that feel natural. She's also great at showing the progression of romantic relationships in that feelings of attraction and romance progress slowly - just like they do in real life - and all the feelings of self-doubt and hesitancy that accompany them, that most of us feel, are there. Although there are not as many moments of hilarity as there are in the Star Kingdom books, I didn't miss them because the story was so engaging. I can't wait for the next book!
P.S. I have no idea what the one reviewer was talking about when she complained about pedophilia??? As far as I can recall, and I just finished it, there are no children in the book at all. "Young girls" were mentioned in one passage that was highlighting the awfulness of one villian, but I didn't take that to mean children. That passage was also the one that mentioned sex - and it was brief, IMO. So...?
