Exciting from start to finish

This is the second book in this series, we meet both Brody and Justice in book one. I liked the story, it had me hooked from the first page, I can’t wait to read more.

Don’t be deceived by the cover, I have no idea why a plus size women wouldn’t be the cover model, seeing that Justices, “abundant cures” are described and talked about, she is even called fat, she wears a size 18. This is just my personal opinion, if your going to put ppl on the cover then they need to at least resemble the characters in the story. And the ugly nose ring, ugh, Justice don’t even have one. The cover is so weird to me after reading the book, but I don’t hold that against the author at all but I hope next time, pick ppl that fit the description of the characters, got my imagination all messed up..

I've tried reading several of this author's books and it's just not for me. This is not a standalone book. References kept being made to the first story and it made me feel like I should have read that first. To me the writing style is confusing and hard to follow. Brody was ridiculous. The first half of the book he kept describing Justice's body and what he wanted to do. I love a good alpha male, but he was borderline misogynistic to me. Justice for on my nerves too. Felt like she was just waiting on him to change because she could see the "good guy" in him and all he could do is talk about sex and his peen. It was just ridiculous and crass. I skimmed through most of the book hoping it would get better, but it didn't.

The Scottish accents continue to annoying, but Brody is not a broody alpha. He's emotionally clingy AF and relies on his obsession with Justice to, literally, stay connected to her. "If I can keep her sexed up, she'll love me fov me."

Justice, meanwhile, is self-aware enough to understand her insecurities. She has the patience of Job in waiting for Brody to grow the feck up. Her relationship with her parents is refreshingly healthy! As is her Blackness. She's not interchangeable with a non-Black heroine like some IR books.

I got this book from KU the day it was released. I just now finished it and I had to force myself to do so. This was a tedious read and really didn't pick up steam until the last 1/3 of the book. Brody didn't have any real depth and the back and forth between him and Justice got old really fast.
The sole reason I gave 3 stars instead of two, is because the author had the guts to write Justice as a dark skin, unambiguously Black woman. Justice was a refreshing character, realistically portrayed and a joy to read.

Not as good as book one. The book droned on and on with Brody trying to get next to Justice. I kept skipping chapters to get to the exciting part. I only got interested during the last third of the book.
