How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

When I pick up a book, or in this case, my Kindle, and from the first page, am immersed in the story, I am oblivious to everything around me. Brandvold keeps the story moving with excitement, challenges against great odds, and a main character in Yakima who is always able to outwit the enemy...sometimes with outside help, but mostly by his uncanny ability to out think the opposition. As usual, a great story.

This book was well written, many captive twists and turns in the plot with an unanticipated but believable ending.

Highly recommend this series of books.

DD Gott - Donadees Corner
5.0 out of 5 stars When an old love asks Yakima to rescue her brother from a Mexican prison, how could he say NO?
Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2021
Peter Brandvold – Yakima Henry – The Wild Breed – Reviewed 5/11/21 – Read 5/8-9/21

Faith, the woman that Yakima walked away from in Colorado but still loves, comes to him with the request to help her rescue her brother from a Mexican Prison, he wants to walk away. But how could he, he knows in his heart he still loves her. Then she introduces him to her HUSBAND, Ace Cavanaugh!!! How could she betray him like this? And a low-down sleazy GAMBLER to boot! He might have been handsome if his eye did not wander due to the long, red jagged scar running down from his forehead, stopping just at the edge of the odd-looking color eye, then ending in a knot near his right nostril. Of course, Yakima does not like the way that he treats her either.

Faith explained that after Yakima left things got pretty bad, it was expensive running the brothel. Ace had saved her by investing money in the place. He even contributed gold to the money she was carrying to pay for her brother’s release. He would not have to do it alone as she is paying the six other fellas that were with her for their help in the rescue. It turns out they are all friends of “THE HUSBAND”, each looking like the outlaws they probably are!

Well, you got it! He couldn’t say no!!!!! Join Yakima Henry in the battle for his life, those of the others with him, and that of Faith’s brother as they race against time in his rescue. Maybe this time he won’t walk away, but instead fight for what he wants???

And the story begins…

What did I like? By now you must have figured out that I am a big fan of the tall ruggedly handsome Yakima Henry. I admire his intelligent and wildly faithful horse Wolf, and of course wish he were real and mine! But the truth is I also admire the character that he is, vulnerable, loving, kind, caring, and a friend to anyone that needs it. I hate the way that he is treated but that was the time and would have been the way of life then. Unfortunately, those things did not change over the years, and in some places have not to this day. The character of Yakima is one of those that made the West the way it is today, there were many Yakima’s over time, and we don’t hear enough about them. US Marine Ira Hayes is one of those, a war hero that just could not win the battle with alcohol and died by drowning in two inches of water because he passed out. But he was a hero, one of the six flag raisers immortalized in the iconic photograph “Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima” taken by photographer Joe Rosenthal. That flag was raised after the capture of Mount Suribachi on February 23, 1945. Others are like the Code talkers that fought bravely for our country, and there are many other unsung heroes. But here we are today with Yakima battling for the life of a young man that was just doing his job, wrangling cattle for the brand that he rode for.

What will you like? Incredible action, tons of gunplay, love, new friends, some hated old characters, a pinch of humor, a ton of danger, and an amazing ending. The author’s research and knowledge of the times show on every page while we follow the group in their journey. Yakima leads his rescuers into the wilds of Mexico, and Peter brings the amazing sights of the mountains and valleys alive with his tasty descriptions. We can smell the sour sweat, leather, tobacco, and horse apples, as we dodge the desert cactuses and rattlesnakes. Bending to taste the clear freshwater from the mountain streams, see the heat dance over the desert floor, and watch the beauty of the setting sun in its yellows, pinks, and reds. All the while we hear the birds and wildlife around as the Mexican town comes into view. Finally reaching the prison they breathe the foul odor of human excrement, decay, and death, then the real battle begins. Pick up your copy for your Western Library, available May 25th, 2021.

5.0 out of 5 stars There’s blood, rough rivers, prisoners and more.

Wow! This book has 400+ pages of wild western adventure with guns blazing, horses running, and, the love of Yakima’s life has returned. My heart raced as Apaches shot arrows, scalp-hunters in Mexico gave chase and revolutionaries saved lives. There are secret passages, sharp-shooters and more in this book. Old adversaries appear and new threats came out. My hubby and I read and re-read passages that were unbelievable. This is truly the wild west at large. Loved it!
