Interesting story but terrible proofreading
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 26, 2022
I liked a lot about this book, such as the plot, characters, and voice. However, lots of verb-tense changes kept distracting me from the story. I tried to ignore that, but other grammatical errors kept popping out and throwing me off. It's too bad, because I think I would've liked reading the rest of it and the series.
I know that good proofreading seems to be less and less valued these days, but it really does matter, because ultimately, the purpose of proofreading is to prevent readers from getting distracted away from the story. The authors’ publisher did them a disservice by allowing it to be published in this not-quite-finished state.
