Can you even call this book a thriller if you see everything that’s coming? It’s a bummer The Golden Couple wasn’t better because I thought the writing was fabulous and flowed easily (which earns Hendricks 3 stars instead of 2). I didn’t really care for or connect with any characters.. I suppose there were a few scenes in which the characters could be relatable & likable. The whole book felt like a mindless, empty read - that’s cool if that is what you’re in the mood for. But its not difficult to see almost every plot twist coming which irks me the most. Predictable and lazy twists! I’m being generous calling these moments “twists”. Hendricks went the usual route instead of really stepping up the shock factor which was entirely possible given the plot that was laid out. I don’t believe the writers will be surprising many readers with this book.
