This is a remarkable collection of short stories put out by Sinister Smile Press. The theme for this anthology is Nightmare Creatures and the authors in this collection did not disappoint. Every single story in this collection delivers with a full dose of gruesome gore, creepy creatures and nocturnal nightmares that are not for the faint of heart. If you are looking for terror, if you thrive on chills creeping up your spine and love looking over your shoulder, then you are in the right place.
Did I mention yet that Jeff Strand writes the foreword for this collection? An epic, wildly appropriate foreword that only Jeff Strand could write kicks off this tome of terror. It is everything that we have come to know and love about Jeff Strand.
One of my favorites, “Scarecrow”, by Hannah O’Doom, shows us that everything comes with a price. When a young girl makes the acquaintance of something ancient in the woods, the offer of a wish seems too good to be true, but what harm could one simple wish do?
Another standout for me was “Invader” by Bridgett Nelson. This story follows a young woman, dealing with the pressures of her last year of high school, seeks out an afternoon of relaxation on a private beach, that she has somehow never been to, despite living on the island all her life, when she sees something ancient and terrible arise from the depths of the ocean, something she wouldn’t soon forget.
There are 14 amazing stories in this anthology by some of the best horror writers around. This was an awesome way to discover some new to me writers and read some great horror all at the same time. Do yourself a favor and add this collection to your “to be read” pile as soon as you can.

"Parents don't tell children that nightmare creatures exist to create fear amongst them. They tell them to teach them that nightmare creatures can be slain." -Author Unknown.
The forward was written by Jeff Strand. It was creative and comical. What a great introduction! Made me chuckle!

With a diverse panel of authors pulling together a book of anthologies from a prompt of 'Nightmare Creatures' is what made this a fun reading experience. I love how each has their own unique writing style and creativity. There are all types of creatures written in these stories. Ones that may just haunt you in your sleep!!
I must share some honesty, none of these scared me, as it actually takes quite a bit to do so. But it does not detract from the enjoyment of reading and of seeing the creativity from each authors mind.
Anyone who enjoys anthologies and horror stories filled with creepy creatures should read these.
