First I should warn you that Vaughn Ashby is one of my favorite authors. His books walk a corkscrewed line between horror, sci-fi and twisted humor which is approximately where my brain resides. Aurora Wasteland Quarantine is the perfect example of his writing. In this case it’s a collection of short stories. I also have a deep love of reading short stories. Each story is introduced by “the narrator” and these introductions are at times hilarious but always insightful. In particular these stories are influenced by the COVID-19 virus which gives the reader a rare but close connection to this anthology. No only do I recommend but in fact implore the readers to try this book. YMMV but it will be repaid in full.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
We are alone, all of us. Life has a way, even before all of this, to make us feel alone, by ourselves, isolated. Before The Virus, before the lockdowns, before the quarantines, life was deceivably lonely. We got up, went to work, came home, watched tv, and went to bed. All of it alone. Great story . Part horror plus humor and so different. You will enjoy it ,so get the book.
Aurora Wasteland Quarantine is one of a collection of short stories by Sci-Fi Horror author Vaughn Ashby. This is yet another great read by this author, and one I highly recommend. I gave this honest, voluntary review after being given a free copy of the book with no monetary compensation.
