Eventually the wheels always start to come off.

I have loved this series and have managed over the last month read everything up to this point.

But now with the latter half of this book the tone of series is shifting from pretty hard military Scifi ground/space combat to something that feels like its inching closer to Star Trek or with a strong helping of Battlestar Galactica.

This isn't the first series I have read that has for one reason or another tried to introduce a new enemy and with the nature of this new enemy change the tone of the stories but already it's made an addictive story start to become a struggle to finish.

Here's hoping that the next books manage to pull me back in better.

I read the first 3 or 4 books and enjoyed them. I got this one thinking it would be the conclusion only to learn that I have to wait for another one. It seems at this point Partlow has lost his direction and didn't even finish the rest of the book. I expected a conclusion and I'm okay with the series ending on them trying to make peace with their past and building a new life with their former enemy. I don't feel that this aspect was explored and he missed a great opportunity for further character development here and I feel like he should have ended rather than restart with a Voyager vibe.

I've been waiting for this book to release and it was worth the wait. New bad guys. New area and cultures. Exploration at it's best. Well besides the death and violence.
I enjoyed how we got to go someplace unexpected and saw how things had unfolded throughout the ages. I'm loving the new expansion in the overall storyline.
I highly recommend this to fans and new readers.

Someone lives, someone dies in every war. These books continue to create characters that share and then sacrifice their lives for a belief and a better moment. Remembering friends past is a recurring theme shared - much like the first war pilots in stories past.
