A Counterfeit Movie About Counterfeiting

What saddens me is to see other cultures abandon their uniqueness in an attempt to copy ours, the result is invariably ludicrous, and the loss of authenticity of the original culture criminal.

There's nothing original about "Project Gutenberg", everything's a copy of western movies of the same type and an attempt to mimic western culture that's pathetic.

What's good about the movie is the traditional cultural values of excellence that showed through when it came to perfecting the techniques of counterfeiting being employed by the primaries here.

The one thing that was purely Chinese was the ending.

P.S. The subtitles flashed by so fast sometimes, that I had to pause it to read them, and sometimes even back-space.

This is one movie that you have to see it through. While slow moving in the first 20 minutes it begins to move at a fast pace, not giving you time to figure out what's next. When you think it's over it takes you in another direction. I loved the twists and reveal moments, I thought of The Usual Suspects movie. Acting by all was excellent, I even loved the ending. Asian films do not always have a happy ending, and this film did not disappoint.

Most of the comments are critical of the movies mostly due to subtitle issue - so I would say to that shouldn't be a legitimate reason to judge a movie itself. This is a vintage Chow Yen-Fat movie except it is probably his best work in the last 10-12 years. Aaron Kwak is also superb. Overall, you can actually count most of the main actors in the movies are playing multiple characters (both literally and thematically) which make this movie such an enjoyable one. Essentially it is also an art movie asked as an action thriller so do take your time to digest it.

This is my feeling at the end, but not a bad one. Not that I like the movie very much, I couldn't find anything I can complain about. I'm not sure the year 2018 is correct as Chow, might be well known in Hollywood, should be older by now.

This is a great film. Not sure why all of the complaints about this film is all about. This is a solid film with great acting, storyline and the surprise plot twist is a nice touch. For fans of Hong Kong films, you will surely enjoy this. If you're new to the Hong Kong cinema genre...Stick with it.

There were a lot more twists and turns than I expected. I just knew that I liked Chow Yun-fat so that's really the only reason I watched this movie. I thought it was rather exciting going in with with zero expectations and in the end, I was satisfied. I would easily recommend this movie.
