Quick read. Decent plot. It could have been so much more; but wasn’t. Character developments were a little light and scene settings were slim. I take real exception to British Authors, as in Mr. Cave, who write an America based novel; but fails to get the facts, especially will guns and cars. He referred to a Ford Maverick as both a car, with trunk, and as a pickup. The Ford Maverick wasn’t a pickup until after the 1981 timeline. He referred to a .22 caliber bolt action rifle, as .22 gauge. Then he referred to it as a lever action (which would be a breach load). He also indicated it’s force as pushing a 900# animal back; which wouldn’t happen. He also indicated another character having a firearm, without paperwork; which wouldn’t be relevant in 1981. Also, the odds of a female deputy in 1981 would be slim to none. Not being sexist, just stating the reality.
