How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsslow at first but gains speed.

I finally bought it for a high price on kindle. Books prices are getting crazy but I did enjoy it and am happy the proceeds go to this author who has wonderful talent.
Basically Jess ends up at her brother’s apartment but he is missing and no one is jumping in to help her. The story has so many twists and switches from different viewpoints. It keeps the mind guessing. A little short, great vacation read. Thank you for the entertainment!

3.0 out of 5 starsBetter than nothing, particularly if you're not a great reader

The prose reminded me of something I read once by James Patterson, like it was aimed at people who... don't read much. A very easy, accessible read, in other words. With short chapters that end in a hook, so it might appeal to readers who don't want to think very hard. I managed to finish it, but I won't be reading other books by this author. (It could be an excellent choice for ESL readers who like thrillers!)

I really enjoyed this book and it’s structure. The short chapters and various points of view made it engaging and suspenseful. It was a bit of a slow burn at first establishing the many players, but overall an enjoyable read despite its flaws.

The story was better than the time it took me to read it would suggest. I liked the pace but the short chapters made it much too easy to set the book aside.

A true delight... I got sucked into each dark path that was wound in this book. As a true crime lover, I found this was a gripping novel that I couldn’t put down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Suspense Novel

"I don’t like strangers. I don’t like change. Change has always been dangerous for me. He proved that: coming here with his questions, his charm. The man who came to live in the third-floor apartment: Benjamin Daniels. After he came here, everything changed."

✨Suspenseful
✨Multiple POVs
✨Great Twist

I came into this book with high expectations because I have really enjoyed Lucy Foley's other books. This one just fell a little flat to me. I was intrigued with the different point of views of the inhabitants of the apartment complex but it eventually it just got too drawn out. There was a great twist in the book that I wasn't expecting so that bumped up the rating for me but I did think the book took too long to get there. The beginning and end were good and kept me wanting to read but the middle was just stale and I had to push through it. 3.5 stars for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely full of twists

It’s hard to write a review without spoilers, so here’s the condensed version. Everything and everyone in this book is like guilded garbage, shiny and nice on the outside but absolutely rotten underneath. Jess is trying to find her brother Ben, and finds the mother load of skeletons in the attic (and the basement) in the process.
Jess is very resourceful, and I liked her character, but I disliked every other character including her brother Ben, who was as disingenuous as the rest of them. I predicted the killer and the big reveal of the dirty money fairly early on, which was kind of disappointing in the end because it seemed very drawn from recent events and not as original as I had hoped.
The Guest List is still my favorite book by this author.
