Too easy for our hero
Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2021
The author says his goal in the series was to show a different character from Emily that didn't arrive with all her advantages. He didn't succeed in this, with our main character becoming the top military commander for the King within just a few weeks. Our hero's success was portrayed in a very unlikely sequence of events in which he was able to get semi-modern armaments manufactured in a few weeks. Realistically, this would take months and years, if it were doable at all: a village blacksmith cannot make gun barrels.
Overall, I'd say our protagonist encountered *less* difficulty than Emily, not more, to the point where the story just wasn't interesting.
As for the prospect of meeting Emily in the future, if the author doesn't make that happen, then it serves no purpose to locate this character in this world, which isn't intrinsically very interesting. The lack of worldbuilding is a flaw in both this and Emily's stories.
