I have enjoyed the books and I still appreciate a clean book with a rewarding plot of good vs evil. I have read books that are more complex, but that's not required for for me to enjoy a book. I just get tired of depressing books that end up bringing me down. This series doesn't and I like the characters. I think it's worth reading.

Queen and Musta have become extremely competent soldiers and both have experience a magical form of PTSD which is a condition that almost every soldier develops. Taking the life of another human has a profound impact on anyone thrown into a battle. This mental sickness needs to be healed just as any wound needs to heal. This book really brings this issue to the attention of the reader and shows many ways that can really help with the healing process. I expect even more in the next book of the series. Excellent book from many angles!😍

Torsten's world and characters are well-crafted and appealing. Coupled with his enjoyable writing style, these two characteristics make this series one of my must-reads. I'd rate the expressiveness of his writing and world-building right up there with the fantasy greats, Tolkien, etc. I enjoy the story line, which is inventive and seems to be providing a building coming of age story that doesn't rely on ever-more-challenging enemies, but rather focuses on the development of the central two characters and their friends (who are all much older and so don't need to develop as much). When coupled with excellent editing, these lead to a series that is well worth the read and hard to put down!

I recommend this series. I have enjoyed watching how the author has matured our 13the Paladin. The one and only thing I do not like is his girlfriend. She is a great character to introduce by herself but she doesn’t match up as his girlfriend, in my opinion. I hate the constant reference of “his beloved” or “my beloved”. It’s used way too much and the main character seems totally PW’d by her which is what I don’t like, makes him seem weak, out of character. They are just not right together, in my opinion. I enjoy all the rest.

If you like sci-fi fantasy this is a must read. Can't wait for the next book. Well written, a combination of J R R Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar's series and George R R Martin's Game of Thrones. It has dwarves, elves, humans, companion animals and an adversary. Oh with some medevial stuff thrown in also.
