China Mike is the continuing misadventures of Lieutenant Abner Fortis. This time, Fortis and his squad are “accidentally” assigned liberty on a planet that does not have the capacity to provide the services expected. The intergalactic corporation from the first novel plays a role in this book. Not the role readers of the first book would expect, which made the novel interesting. The story was fun to read and very entertaining. I look forward to the next installment of this series.
Do It, Not Like It – DINLI is not only an appropriate response by Space Marines to all questions, but sometimes a very tasty homemade “adult” beverage:->
This time 2ndLt Abner Fortis and his platoon go on a liberty call, to the wrong planet! Instead of being at a famous (infamous???) port of call they end up on an industrial colony where the highlight of the R&R (rest & relaxation) opportunities is the gym:-< Then two of his marines go to jail accused of dealing the highly addictive and illegal drug China Mike. One thing Abner is sure of, he won’t let HIS marines twist in the wind – DINLI!
Like “Cherry Drop” (the 1st Abner Fortis book, go read it if you haven’t already), this is a very, very fun read with some unexpected twists and turns up until the very end. This book expands on the completely new, unexplored “universe” introduced in “Cherry Drop.” If you are a Science Fiction/Military Space Opera fan like me, you get to Read It And Like It – RIALI!
I don’t usually write reviews but in this case I decided I have to. This is one of the best series of books I have read in a long time. Both the first book and now this one were great. There were no boring sections. The action was fast and the characters were believable. The only bad thing is that there are only two books.
China Mike is a really good story about First Lieutenant Abner Fortis and his company who get misdirected to a mining planet instead of a recreational planet for liberty and find themselves in a plot to overthrow the governor. No bugs but plenty of mercenaries and shady people. Loved it.
PA Platt tells a good story of a fly by the seat of his pants.young Space Marine Lieutenant Abner Fortis. Book 2 is more of Foetus and his ragtag marines adventures while on Liberty and it's a fun ride for fans of military scifi.
A great follow up book with Lt Fortis and his men being misdirected to an industrial facility for leave by their ex commanding officer. Obviously something is wrong at this facility and a little blackmail pulls the Marines in.
Well Abner is back, and once again he proves that some people don't have to look for trouble. He just attracts it like a magnet. Only Abner could go on leave to a pleasure/party planet and manage to end up in the wrong place at the right time, again. Fantastic story, love the characters. You don't want to miss this one, every bit as good as the first one. Can't wait for the next one! DINLI!!!
Abner Fortis, caught in an unwinnable conflict with his commanding officer, is sent to an out of the way place to both punish him for mad-up past transgressions and to keep him out of sight. Trying to do what is right finds him in conflict with his men and his orders. Great story about perseverance and courage. And has dividends at the end. Highly recommended.
