I've got to wait a whole year for the next book? Yikes! Ok, ok! I know I want her to take her time writing. There's no actual deadline. (But I got a pre-order for Feb 2023. I'm just sayin'.)

I really, really like how this installment ended for Jason. Please don't let him get off or escape.
It was great to see Jeanie in action again. I like the crossovers so long as I can keep track of when they happen between series.
Mara is a really interesting character. On the one hand, I love how protective she is of her son. But on the other hand, I was beginning to feel as though she were blind to what her husband was. This book's ending was "just right". Maybe Mara's mom will finally stop thinking he's the wonder boy, and realize her daughter is smarter than she is.
I only take issue with one thing: a Russian mob operating out of Detroit? Uh... no. Some other Eastern European country maybe, but not Russia.
Is this story a reflection of the dank and gory inner workings of our country/ society/culture?People we are drawn to lead us have a devils persona behind their handsome and polished exterior?? SCARY!!!
Robin James' Mara Brent series have forced me to binge! What a great series of legal books, with so much more. The heroine has an autistic child, and will go to ANY length to protect him. Her hubbie has a fault or two, but loves their child. And there is no shortage of bad people who need to be processed and prosecuted. How unlike our current world!. But Mara is more than ready, and this lady won't quit. But she has a blind spot. Potentially deadly. And book after book takes us closer and closer to her epiphany. And every book is worth it! I strongly recommend this series, There's plenty of enabling and disfunction for all! 5 STARS!!
