I liked “The Room in the Attic” best so far of Louise Douglas books. Intriguing and well written, and even though it spanned generations the distinctions were clear and easy to keep straight. Loved the introduction of time fluidity at the end and the alternate outcomes. Enjoyable and engrossing story.

The story line and writing in this book reminds me of a good Simone St. James novel, and in my opinion that’s a good thing. I finished the book in just a couple of reading sessions because I just couldn’t put it down for very long. If you love a good ghost story you will love this one. It takes place in an old English asylum that was converted into a boarding school and switches between two timelines. The timelines are 1903 at the asylum and 1993 at the boarding school. I’m going to look for more from this author because if they are as good as this one, I will have found another favorite author.

Louise Douglas did a marvelous job of describing such a tale. One with murder, mystery, and tying the past seemingly with the present. One does not have to reread to know which time you are in , or who the characters are. It is written exceptionally well, and keeps you turning page after page until the end.

Loved the twist to the ending, brilliant plot and the fantastic ending took the plot to the next level. So refreshing to read something a little different that wrapped up so beautifully at the end. Can't wait to read another book by Louise. I've read many dual plot novels where they are set in different time periods but this was by far the best with a thoroughly well thought out plot, I can't recommend enough.
