An absolutely brillainat film and the most faithful adaptation of Batman yet. A 3 hour, brilliantly paced thriller that enters the upper echelon of comic movie adaptations. To me only The Dark Knight rivals this movie. We need more adult, challenging and creative comic movies like this and less of the increasingly soulless cash grab Marvel movies that are now playing on nostalgia and gimmicks to sell tickets. This oviedo solidifies thay when done correctly Batman is the greatest hero in comics.

Wow, more Hollywood political correctness

I paid $24.99 to watch a movie that in the first 10 minutes of the film, I see that white men are bad, black women are good, black and Hispanic men are bad and Asian men are victims... Good, grief what a load of horrible movie making, and script. I have had enough of Hollywood and they're lying politically correct evil disgusting wicked propaganda always making America bad... this move sucks!

Robert Pattinson does Batman as well as any and better than most. As for those who don't like the length of the movie and think it's too long, you're wrong. Filmed in a classic detective style noir, Matt Reeves did an amazing job giving the film a dark and gritty look, without it being so dark you can't see the action or characters. One of the most impressive things was the pacing of the film, even though it was long there was never a point where it got bogged down and you wanted to fast forward. I look forward to seeing Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader in the sequel.

The Batman is emotionally dark, gritty and brutal. If you are looking for neon colors, one-liners and dancing comic monkeys that your kids will enjoy, this movie will disappoint. The Batman goes deep into crime and justice while showing another side of characters we all grew up watching. This is not a Saturday morning cartoon.
The only con I will mention is the disappointment when catwoman stated white men are in control and they needed to take these white men down. If only Hollywood woke culture could have stayed out of this excellent movie.

All the text in the movie is in German and when a sign is German subtitles show at the bottom. Not that I have anything against German, but I don't read, write or speak it so it takes away from the movie.

Update... after contacting Amazon Customer Support it looks like the German portions of the movie are now in English with now German subtitles when signs are shown.

If you're expecting the usual Batman movie where he seems to have super powers or over the top technology that has yet to be invented you may be disappointed in this movie. This is a more realistic movie if a real life billionaire decided to become a vigilante and has not yet separated the playboy Bruce Wayne from the Dark Knight. Robert Pattinson is now by far my favorite Batman. Great supporting cast combined with even better cinematography makes this one of my favorite movies.

P.S. I don't know what everyone is talking about with the "German" text or whatever, but there was no issue with my purchase. Subtitles in English if needed.

really liked this movie. the style of batman reminded me of the 90s animated series and the arkham games. much more down to earth with a dark gritty Gotham.

i did have german text as well but you just need to go into your subtitles settings and change from german to english (even if you leave the subtitles off you need to do this). once i switched that it was fine for the whole movie. i think there's one or 2 scenes where the language is essential.

Much like those submitting 1 star reviews for immature reasons, this movie...this Batman is symbolic of youth and growth within. In time, those complaining might grow up to better appreciate a movie like this. Don't read my review if you haven't watched the movie. Batman is young and dark and full of desire to do right in Gotham by instilling fear and exacting brutality on anyone standing in his way. I absolutely loved the movie! It's an awesome re-write. I'm a huge fan of the Dark Knight Trilogy, but this movie has a Batman that is young and doesn't care about repercussions to himself. He's driven by an inner passion to do what he believes is right. He's full of piss and vinegar. Although incredibly intelligent, he lacks empathy due to his youth and not having experienced/witnessed the lessons life teaches through time. Robert Pattinson plays the role of a young Bruce Wayne exactly as the writing was intended and he's great. He's raw and new to the crime fighting/superhero business. It's cool seeing him establish himself within the city, to criminals and the cops, as one to be feared and respected, but there's also a moral compass within that holds him to a standard of finding a way other than inflicting death. Kudos to the Director for having Batman come out in a couple scenes in a slow, powerful walk with ominous music signaling his entrance. In a nutshell, it's a Law and Order SVU kind-of-like crime drama with a dark young superhero trying to do good, but learning who he is and how to be better at the same time. This Batman is young, dark and raw with up and coming maturity, skills and tech. It's perfect.

The only fault I had with the movie was with the actor who played Carmine Falcone. I just didn't think he pulled off being the powerful crime boss. His mannerisms, voice and the way he delivered his lines couldn't remove my recollection of him being the goofy Agent Simmons from Sector Seven in the movie Transformers.

Note: I didn't have any issues with German text.

Despite Robert Pattinson being a little too quiet and emotionless as Bruce Wayne. It’s funny how much his Batman is alive. Though his Bruce Wayne does show the inner scars more of any other Bruce Wayne. It is a little too overdone where you could consider him emo Bruce Wayne.
After a few hundred more viewings, his Bruce will probably grow on me more. His Batman though definitely doesn’t need to grow on me however. He could possibly be the most bad ass.
Paul Dano and Colin Farrell are both equally ingenious as the Riddler and the Penguin. Though Dano is creepier and bone chilling at times. Farrell’s Penguin is like the mob boss we’ve been missing on film since DeNiro in the Untouchables.
While Zoe Kravitz is an excellent Catwoman as well. Who feels the most like the character jumped out of the comic pages. Than the Riddler I admit. Who’s look was changed a little too much. Him being perfectly out of his mind does make up for that.
The 3 hour length goes so fast surprisingly since the story pulls you in. To learn more about the Riddler especially and who will his next target be. My only problem is that Batman/Bruce is mostly on a motorcycle throughout. Until he just suddenly has the Batmobile in one scene.
Other than that and Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne having to grow on me. The Batman was the most solid Batman film since the Dark Knight. It also might be the closest movie to the Arkham video games as well as the Telltale ones. Which is a very good thing.

I was a little skeptical at first I had heard pretty mixed reviews and didn't come in with that high expectations; first of all, it's a 3-hour movie. That just seems sooo long for a film. But I was pleasantly surprised. This was a pretty different take on Batman from what I'm used to when it comes to a Batman film, let alone a DC film. There was only a couple of thing I didn't really like about the film. One was how dark it was I get Gotham City is supposed to be a grunge City but I literally had to turn my brightness up all the way to see key details. The second was Batman's voice it kind of got on my nerves towards the end, but it is not something that would keep me from watching a movie again in the future. My last issue was with the character Oz, AKA penguin, I know Colin Farrell Very accomplished and great actor but I did not appreciate them putting him in a fat suit to portray penguin if they wanted the character to be On the larger end they should have just hired a fat acter there are plenty of them that are talented. Otherwise, I'd say interesting plot and characters a new take on Batman. Lastly, I just wanted to address some of the other reviews I came across before deciding to purchase Batman there's a lot of talk about racial discrimination or gaslighting as a black woman I didn't pick any of that up from this movie whatsoever I just think people were being nitpicky.

I was never a fan of Batman. I went out of my way to avoid all Batman movies because I did not think they were any good. This movie was perfect. It was definitely a lot of monologues but it fit. Robert Pattinson is Batman. He was just so fantastic and believable. You could see and feel his pain. I felt a lot of sympathy for Batman. I never felt that way before about Batman. This guy had me completely hanging on his every last word. The movie is full of action. The darkness of it all makes sense. There’s no dinner parties and rich man humor. It was full emo and I am here for it. My 13 year old daughter enjoys the movie as well and she was not a big fan of Batman either. This movie left us wanting more. Definitely a winner in my book. You will not be disappointed.
