First off things that I liked. I have read a lot of books in this genre, but most of them fail to have a particularly unique or fun hook. In Dragon Prince, The hook is that the main character discovers that he can turn into a dragon, has magic, and travels to an alternate reality where elves and dwarves and orcs are all real. The story is fun, and the characters are relatively well developed.
Now for the things that I didn't like. It's a short list. There were a few times at the end of each chapter when TK's inventory is listed. And the accounting of what he had in his inventory wasn't always accurate to what he had looted, and to what he had from the previous time it listed his inventory. In other words, at one point he had to give up his only yellow soul gems to make peace with the king. But come the end of the next chapter, it said that he has seven of them. Then at the end of the next chapter, after killing the orc chieftain and looting a yellow gem, It said said he only had one.
Inconsistencies like that pop up in a few places. And there were a few minor spelling issues. Aside from these minor issues I definitely recommend it.
