The story was ok, but every time Dex Blackmore’s perspective referred to Heather Baileys father it was Daniel Blackmore or Mr. Blackmore instead of Daniel Bailey or Mr. Bailey. There were a few other mistakes as well but that was the worst.

Being conned into drawing a name in the community’s Secret Santa tradition, Heather Bailey is shocked when the person whom she picks is a man from her past. When she was a teenager, a person tried to attack her but Dex Blackmore shopped the individual from causing any actual harm. Though both told the truth about the incident, her father thought they were lying and made sure he joined the military or paid a bigger price. Now Dex has returned to Alpine Valley despite previous warnings not to do so, and running into Heather shortly after his arrival causes much happiness. She knows her father would not approve of her talking with the man he still blames for the long-ago occurrence, but she uses the excuse of needing to talk with Dex to learn his likes in order to get him a gift.

Right from the start, I was drawn into the complex relationship between Dex and Heather. She is from a part of town where the rich live, while he resided in a poorer section of Alpine Valley. This resulted in her father being against them being together, and her parent found the perfect opportunity to make it happen. Their story is very realistic, and heartfelt sentiments were displayed by the romantic couple at all times. Kali Hart really packs a lot of emotion into every development that takes place in THE SOLDIER’S SECRET SANTA, and I constantly thought the characters came across as having convincing reactions. The Christmas in Alpine Valley series has an imaginative premise, and I am eager to see what the author thinks up next. Rating – 4.5 Stars
