How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

I enjoyed the first book but I gave this one four stars because I do not like cult books...they are like democrats..they brainwash people to submit to their bidding and people who joins cults are just as evil as liberals...

I very rarely leave poor reviews, but I had little choice with this book. The typos and missed words were quite hard to ignore. I usually just tap on the report error and put a note in about what is wrong. It got so bad that I felt like an editor by the end of the book.
I was disappointed in the main character and her development throughout the story. The first 75-80% was a lot of whining for an FBI agent. She was in no way someone that I was anxious to read the next story. It was only in the final chapters that it actually picked up, with some well-timed action. Otherwise, the book would consist of so much unnecessary drama. Everything about the book was over the top and unbelievable.
I only went up to a 3rd star due to the last few chapters.

Plot twist comments (spoilers below) :

I don't know what police department can't track one of their own vehicles in this day and age.
Also, what agent with the FBI just runs around doing things on her own? Especially if she has been told her life is in danger and she has a protection detail. Extremely hard to believe, shows the character's selfishness.

I was disappointed in the heroine’s character. She constantly did things that any trained agent wouldn’t do. Who would rush off to trade places with another officer of the law with no plan in place regardless of a time limit. I’ve enjoyed so many of the other Elle Gray books this series is lack luster and not up to her usual standard of writing. But that being said I still had to read them because of her other books.

I love the Pax Arrington and Blake Wilder books, but I struggled to make myself finish this one. I found myself wondering if this is the work of a ghostwriter because it strayed so far from what I’ve come to expect from this author. I can suspend my disbelief to a point, but this was too much - sloppy FBI and police procedures that could never be real, stilted dialogue, characters that were lame stereotypes… this was tough to read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dumb Characters

I made it halfway through this 2nd book in the series before finally pulling the plug. I fought through the main character’s (Olivia) dumb decisions, poor investigating, poor poor me attitude and her total ineptitude in her job. The authors kept going back and force feeding the idea that Olivia is a great FBI agent with major wins everywhere but then in both of these books, she is clueless. Every lead, every suspect, every clue is given to her or literally dropped on her front porch. The way the authors have written these characters, they could seriously stay on the couch for the entire 300 pages and just wait for the next person to show up to give them the answers, then receive the praise of everyone around for being super agents. At one point, Olivia finds a suspect’s journal at a crime scene and then casually mentions that she thought about turning it in but decided not to. Really? FBI super agent just chilling with evidence in a serial killer crime spree? These books read like the authors chose not to watch Criminal Minds for research purposes but instead, skipped directly to the lesser known series Curminal Thinks

I’ve never written a bad book review before, and it saddens me to do so. I’ve read every one of the author’s books, but this character? Pure crap. Shallow. Predictable. Weak. The whole idea of her mother being an FBI agent coming back. Purely predictable. This is probably the only character I’ve ever wished got killed off. Please don’t make any more of her

This, and other recent offerings by this author are getting worse with each book. They remind me of the books written solely by a computer, at least those books had less errors and kept the plotline consistent.

This will be the last book I read by this author.

This is the second book that I've read from this author, & have to say that I completely enjoyed both books. This story revolves around a cult that appears to have taken over a small town. Olivia and her partner, Brock are tasked with solving multiple Murders while trying to infiltrate a cult that appears to have a hold on lonely, broken people. There is much suspense, and several unexpected
twists. It's a great read that doesn't rely on vulgar language, which was an appreciated feature.

Interesting characters again. Didn't really feel like Brock's character was given much to do.

There was a little less of the repetitive angsty inner thoughts of the protagonist, but not by much. Hopefully, that aspect will continue to improve. The concept is good, the constant rehashing of self-doubt is annoying to wade through.

On the other hand, I generally enjoyed the story. Nothing was much of a surprise, except the family issue. But the premise of the plot was unique.

I'll be reading the next sequel, and hopefully watching the authors improve their technique.

The book is poorly written w lots of grammatical errors. There were like 10 deaths in the first half of the book which was completely unbelievable and the heroine was unlikable at best. She didn't act like a trained FBI agent and was often clueless throughout. She never actually figured anything out in her own, it basically slapped her in the face. To top it off they include a lot of fluff w a side story about her missing mother that has nothing to do w anything. Sorry to say I'm done w this series.
